Late Victorian opal and diamond heart shape ring with a heart-shape opal surrounded by a border of old cut and rose cut diamonds in silver setting with two further diamonds to the foliate scroll shoulders on gold shank, ring size K.The heart shaped cluster measures approximately 10.2mm x 9.8mm. The opal measures approximately 7mm x 6mm. The opal is in good condition, no chips or cracks, light surface scratches commensurate with age. The opal has a good play of colour, displaying green, blue and pink tones. One single cut diamond to the shoulder might be a replacement stone but the rest of the diamonds are all old cut stones and original to the setting. The shank has been enlarged and strengthened with the addition of a gold slip inserted to the inside of the shank, associated solder, fairly crude. Weighs approximately 3.5 grams.

Manner of Marcus Gheeraerts the Younger (c.1561/62-1636) oil on panel - portrait of a child feeding a pet rabbit, 35cm x 27cm, unframedProvenance: Collection of the late Lt. Col. Guy Blewitt D.S.O., M.C., (1884-1969) thence by family descentThe work is painted on an oak panel that appears to be the oringal size having not been cut down. The panel is basically good and flat with only a little movement when laid flat. Some old losses to the edges but nothing recent. As seen in the images that were taken whilst under a UV light there is evidence of historic overpainting to the figures face and also the rabbit. To the left of the nose is some paint loss and also beneath the right eye. Generally a good basically untouched early work.
