Ca. 300 - 100 BC.A delicate Hellenistic glass unguentarium, made from translucent, light brown-coloured glass. The bottle features a pyriform shaped body with a cylindrical neck, which tapers outwards to an everted, folded-over rim. The lower body of the unguentarium is bulbous and connects to a pointed base. A factory pair of 19th century Staffordshire pottery left and right light fawn greyhounds circa 1860, 'eager for the course', with three separately moulded legs and 'best' coursing collars, the base decoration of lemon, turquoise and brown colours is applied in a distinctive way and shared with other figures from the same factory; the identity of the factory is no longer known. 16 cm high. Note: This pair is featured in A&N Hardings' book "Victorian Staffordshire Dogs", Figures 2600/2601 on page 74.
