Large folio, stitched into original sail-cloth covers. 25 hinged engraved maps and charts, mostly folding or double page, dating between 1806-1821. Printed title listing the maps: Whittle & Laurie's English Channel 1-4, Captain Horsburgh's North Atlantic Ocean 5, South ditto 6, Gough's Island and Bird Islands 7, Indian Ocean 8, Cape of Good Hope 9 to 10, Arabian Sea 11, Hindoostan 12, Bombay Harbour 13, Goa River and Murmagoa Road 14, Maldiva Islands 15, Peninsula beyond the Ganges 16, Straits of Malacca 17 to 19, China Sea 20 to 21, Luzon and Formosa 22. With a further four unlisted and unnumbered charts: Islands and Channels at the Southwest Extremity of the China Sea; Strait of Sunda; Chart [of Chinese waters etc.] Intended as an Accompaniment to the Book of Directions for navigating to, from and in the East Indies (small repair) and chart dedicated to various sea captains at Canton in 1818. Apart from a few short tears, mostly at lower margins, occasional very light spotting and a few creases, in very good condition. With a one page "Memoranda from Horsburgh's East India Pilot" loosely inserted. Manuscript, probably in the same hand as lot 1002, that of Henry Kent. Folio. With comments on reefs, depths, weather conditions etc. And a torn and defective manuscript chart of an area with Penetenguishene Harbour at centre. (3)

(a few pp. with light stains, mostly in margins). Wing p 1908
A Victorian light oak sideboard, the raised mirror back with shaped pediment and canopy on fluted turned tapering uprights, central mirror flanked by carved panels, the moulded edged base with two central drawers over arched alcove, flanked to either side by a drawer and carved cupboard door, flared base and large bun feet, 88" high x 66 /12" wide.
An interesting Yomut ensi, Turkmenistan, third quarter 19th century, 4ft.10in. x 4ft.3in. 1.47m. x 1.30m. Slight wear in places, very slight loss to lower end. This wonderfully archaic ensi is of unusually small size and, although comparatively coarse in execution, has a remarkably rich and autumnal palette of nine colours Ð reddish brown, dark rust red, dark brown, purple brown, gold, light blue-green, turquoise, dark green and ivory. Within the four panels of the central field are repeated dogachik motifs and the main red ground border has a variant syrga pattern flanked by two ivory ground guards with ashik pattern. The five ornate kochanak-like figures in the base elem, flanked by vertical bars decorated with the saldat pattern with dogachik extensions, are most impressive.
A Dutch-engraved 'VOC' light-baluster wine glass, circa 1750, the funnel bowl engraved with the crowned arms of the Republic of the Seven United Provinces, inscribed CONCORDIA RES PARV(r) CRESCUNT, the reverse with monogram VOC within martial trophies, above a cushion knop and tall slender inverted baluster stem with air beads, conical foot, 19.5cm, 7.625in, very minor polishing to underside of footrim

A GOOD 19TH CENTURY SIX LIGHT CRYSTAL CHANDELIER, with two tiers of prisms above a central oblong drop and button pendant festoon, three graduated circular rows of prisms with six issuing metal arms and sconces, glass drip pans and drops, with a central faceted ball finial 48 ins high x 27 ins diameter.

A Herculaneum Pottery pearl glazed breakfast or supper set, comprising: a central oval jar and cover with scroll handles, containing a liner and pierced stand with six egg cups and a salt cellar, surrounded by two pairs of kidney-shape bowls and three covers, the whole printed with a version of the Greek pattern, depicting classical figures, chariots and decorative bands within light brown borders, impressed No. 37, circa 1815.
