Ted Dyer was born in Bristol in 1940 and has lived for most of his life in the West Country, first in Somerset and Devon, before moving with his entire family to Cornwall in 1972. Capturing the beauty of the region in his paintings has propelled him into becoming acclaimed internationally for his paintings, limited edition prints, art cards and books. He has also held many successful exhibitions. Ted Dyer's art is portrayed with soft colour, light and shade, warmth and friendliness. Close colour harmonies and the particular effect of light are all important to his work. The scenes he captures are usually actual locations in the West Country. A Victorian five-stone diamond ring, comprising five graduated old cut diamonds, the central diamond measuring 3mm x 3.5mm, claw set in yellow metal to a plain polished shank, ring size L, weight 2.2gmsCR: All stones are present. Two of the stones show nibbling to the girdles, but no other chips or losses. Claws and settings are in good order, no splitting, loss or repair, light wear and tear commensurate with age and use. Shank in good order, no signs of thinning, resizing, splitting or repair, light scratching and wear only.

A 9ct gold bloodstone set signet ring, the oval plain polished bloodstone matrix measuring 13.2mm x 9.8mm, bezel set in 9ct yellow gold to a plain polished shank, marks for 'CG&S' Birmingham 1986, ring size N 1/2, weight 5.9gmsCR; No cracks, chips or losses to the central bloodstone panel. Light scratching and wear to front and reverse commensurate with age and use. Setting and shank in good order, no large dents, splits or thinning. Moderate scratching and wear to the settings and shank commensurate with age and use. There is a seam visible to the shank, indicating possible resizing or repair. Hallmarks are crisp and clear.  

Lot 14

A Limited Edition musical 'Faberge Firebird Egg' by Franklin Mint, the silver gilt egg with blue guilloche enamel decoration, scrolling gilt branches set with rubies, opening to reveal silver gilt and enamel figural fire bird, all set to a silver gilt base, 16.5cm high, with a 14ct gold diamond and enamel feather brooch, 35mm long, complete in fitted box with certificateCR; The catch of the egg is in working order, opening smoothly and closing securely, however the egg does not sit flush. Several areas of chipping and loss around the gilt borders. Enamel shows general scratching, wear and tear commensurate with age and use. One of the rubies is missing. General wear, tear and light fraying to the red velvet lining. Central bird figure is in good order, showing general scratching, wear and tear, but no signs of significant damage or repair. Brooch is in good order, general scratching and wear throughout, but all stones are present and in tact and there are no significant losses to the enamel. Scratching, wear and tear to the gilt on the base, but no signs of significant damage or repair. Possible signs of glue repair around the base of of the tree stump. Base does wobble slightly on a level surface. The musical mechanism is in working order, though it does make a clicking sound whilst playing. Please see pictures for illustration. Import marks to base for London 1987.

Jug does wobble slightly on a level surface. Scratching and wear commensurate with age and use throughout.

Button mechanism in working order, cover is slightly stiff to open, but closes flush. Glass to interior in good order, no splits, cracks or losses. Fabric to powder is split and frayed in several places. Some minor splitting around the hinge, pin in slightly loose. Heavy scratching and wear to interior. Please see additional pictures.Compact pictured centre: Denting/wear to the corners. Moderate scratching and wear to exterior. No signs of splitting or repair. Button mechanism in working order, popping open and closing with a snap, though a slight gap is left around the cover and body. Some small cracks and losses around the edge of the mirror. Some thinning, light splitting and denting around the opening on the spout. Cover in good order, opening and closing smoothly, closing flush. Light splitting to the foot, but no signs of large denting, damage or repair. Teapot sits flat on a level surface. Wooden knop in good order, wooden handle shows moderate scratching and wear.

Several areas of loss to the enamel, heavy scratching and wear. The applied lozenge is slightly loose in its setting, wobbling slightly. Heavy scratching to the front an reverse. Some light denting around the edges of the pendant. Moderate wear/thinning to the pendant bail, but the locket does seem secure on the bail. No splitting or signs of repair. Cover opens and closes smoothly, and appears secure when closed, though does not sit completely flush. Glazed compartments to interior are in good order, no cracks chips or losses.
