An interesting and poignant WW1 collection of medals and associated items to the Anglin family of Somerset, and later Portsmouth, including WW1 group to Royal Marine T. Anglin comprising WW1 War and Victory medal, WW2 Defence medal, War medal, 1939-45 star, Africa, Italy, France and Germany stars, LSGC medal to Sgt T. Anglin, with corresponding miniature medal group, together with THREE WW1 Memorial Plaques to John Anglin, Joseph Anglin and Denis Patrick Anglin, 1914-15 star to 9828 Pte J. Anglin, and ERII South Atlantic medal with Rosette to P.O. M. Anglin D19769iT HMS Hermes (possibly son or grandson of T. Anglin), 8x boxed Silver medals and 7x boxed bronze medals for the Royal Tournament (tug of War) during inter-war period for T. Anglin, various buttons, patches and WW1 whistle etc. (research suggests all three brothers except T. Anglin joined the Somerset Light Infantry and all three died, two brothers died on the same day, being the first day of the battle of the Somme)

Mosquito ace in May 1944 Broom joined No 571, a Mosquito XVI squadron of the Light Night Striking Force (LNSF), teaming up with his navigator (and namesake), Flt Lt Tommy Broom. German Third Reich historic ticker tape sent after the failed attempt on Hitler’s life.Three lengths of ticker tape. First translates roughly to “Message from the Führer-Headquarters : Today an explosives attack was launched to eliminate the Führer. He suffered only light burns & bruises and was able to take up work immediately afterwards. He had a long conference with the Duce. Several Generals & Admirals sustained injuries.” ... Second “Fritche of the Propaganda Ministry states that the plot to assassinate Hitler was insignificant and carried out by only 2 Generals and their entourage and was dealt with without complications.” ... Third “Meeting of the Gebirgsjäger in Glamisch Parten Kirchem 500 officers ad crew”. VGC

The straight blade with etched decoration of a GVR crowned cypher and Regimental title “London Irish Rifles”. The hilt of the regulation pattern the guard incorporating a light infantry crowned bugle. Housed in polished brown leather field service scabbard. The sword with age wear, surface rusting spots to the blade and rusting to the guard. Scabbard with damage to the chape. Etching remains clear overall.

White metal rose mounted to base with screw post. Two loops to reverse. Within bullion laurel sprays, a padded bullion Globe set on crossed silk Union flags surmounted by a bugle horn, in turn surmounted by a crown. Between the base of the Globe and that of the wreath, a bullion fouled anchor; beneath the wreath, a pair of crossed sabres. VGCThe Royal Marine Light Infantry amalgamated with the Royal Marine Artillery in 1923 to form The Royal Marines.

These are mounted with silvered Prince of Wales plumes. Some service wear, toned with stitching faults. GC.
