AFTER EMILE PINEDO (1840-1916), A BRONZE SCULPTURE ENTITLED ‘ARABE EN MARCHE’ (2)Signed ‘Pinedo’ to the base of the cast and with foundry mark, inscribed title to the front, 33 cm high; Together with a bronze sculpture of a Water Carrier, after Jean Didier Debut, (1824-1893), signed ‘Debut’ to the cast and with foundry stamp, inscribed ‘Prix de Rome’ to the plaque, 33 cm high (2)Condition report:Both bases with foundry seals stamped ‘ PARIS BRONZE GARANTI’. Overall, light scuffs and rubbing to the dark brown patina. Wear more notable to areas where typically handled. The Water Carrier with a red hat, which is lightly worn and scuffed. Plaques to the front have been resecured, which can be seen by the fresher pins to the underside. Dirt and dust to the recesses.

AIX-LES-BAINS, APRIL 1887’, 10.5cm wide; 5.5.cm wide; the other with a three compartments and hinged lids, 10.5cm wide; 5cm highThis casket would have been given by Queen Victoria on a visit to Aix-Les-Bains in 1887. She first visited there in 1880. This spa town, created in Roman times, was popular with Europe's crowned heads, aristocrats and the wealthy in the late 19th century.Condition report: Good overall condition. The slightly larger one with a loose back bun foot. Some tarnishing to the metal work. Minor hairline fissure to the right and left front panel. Second casket with tarnishing to metal. Dent to the front left side of the metal banding and subsequent slight buckle to the lower left banding.All feet slightly loose. General scuffs, dirt, light marks commensurate with use and age.

A PORTRAIT MINIATURE OF A YOUNG LADY (2)Late 18th / Early 19th centuryIn a gold frame with a split pearl border, the reverse with a glazed compartment with a locket of hair, unsigned, 6cm x 5cm, together with a portrait miniature of a gentleman, unsigned, in a black papier-mache frame, the painting approx 5cm x 4cm (2)Condition report:The first would benefit from a careful thorough clean overall, with a few minor small marks to the glass, dirt and dust to the pearl settings, commensurate with age and use. The white specks appear to be flaked painted which seem to be fixed in position under the glass. However, the portrait has not been examined out of the frame. There is likely to be some fading commensurate with age. The surface of the portrait appears flat. The reverse with pin fixed into the hook clip, which appears to be bent fully round now fixed tight. Mild marks and tarnishing to the back, especially around the hinge. The hair is in place.The second: the portrait appears to be painted on ivory, with dirt and dust overall, together with likely fading, commensurate with age and use. The portrait is held in place with copper teeth. Numerous chips, wear and some light warping mostly to the corners of the frame. Tarnishing to the gilt-metal inner frame and foliate hanging mount, which is also loose. A light craquelure to the carton-pierre surface, commensurate with age.

A 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY CASED APOTHECARY CABINETWith extensive fitted interior, 27cm wide; 31cm highCondition report: Various light marks, scuffs and wear commensurate with age, however, mahogany is overall in relatively good ‘untouched’ condition. Tarnishing/oxidisation to metal work: escutcheon and carrying handles. The lid is very slightly lifting to one side. No key and lock plate loose, requiring fixing back into position. Veneer section to the front edge loose and present with lot. The top hinged lid opens to reveal: Four glass bottles with gilt brass lids, one of which has completely tarnished and lost it’s gilding and wax sealed cork lining and now loose on the glass bottle. Lift out tray with slide lidded compartment to the sideGlazed ceramic tileSoftwood cased glass syringe (internal edge of case worn with loss)Metal cased candle holder - with candle, stamped to underside ‘PATENT APPLIED FOR’ A ceramic oval shaped bowl on raised foot.Front door opening and closing only when lid open to reveal: Seven compartments, six bottles with glass stoppers, various chips and wear. Labelled drawers (one missing ring pull handle top right), including the top tier containing sliding lid compartments, the second row enclosing a glass mixing bowl but no pestle; four glass vials with contents, three of which with marble paper covered stoppers and three various wood containers, the bottom row enclosing eight apertures with six glass mixing bowls.The reverse door opening and closing when lid is open to reveal: Eight compartments with only seven glass bottles with stoppers present. A CHARLES II JOINED OAK ENCLOSED CHEST OF DRAWERSCirca 1670, with raised geometric moulding, 105cm wide; 103cm highCondition report: Good overall condition considering age and use. Construction typical of the period and composed in two sections. Some inevitable wear, marks and scuffs in areas overall and to notable to the top, also with light shrinkage to timber. Further shrinkage to the timbers below and more evident to the panelled doors, including the left side door. Repair required to splits / tears to right side of the two internal drawers. Further shrinkage crack along the left bottom edge of the top drawer. Wear / oxidization to the ring pull metal handles. Five elements of moulding are loose and present. Plugged marks from previous handles. Left side hinge a more obvious replacement. Lock plate but no key. A few old worm holes apparent to the bottom boards. Feet probably good replacements and stylistically consistent, some small wear.

A few scuffs, light scratches to the top and sides and marks commensurate with use and age. Also, a few scratches and the odd mark to the central drawer. Drawers run smoothly and some wear underneath the runners. It is 40.5cm deep
IN THE MANNER OF MERROW ASSOCIATES; A 20TH CENTURY CONSOLE TABLEWith glass top on a polished steel base, 149cm wide; 74cm highCondition report: Overall in good condition. The glass top needs to be cleaned. Light surface wear, including a small scratch to the surface, approx 3.5 cm long, but otherwise good. Edges and corners in good condition - serial number 12150 EURO-TUFF. Overall - 148.5 wide 38.5 cm deep. Frame would benefit from a clean and polish. Surfaces slightly tarnished and dulled. A small gap visible to the mitre join between the brass upright and horizontal, needs tightening. No apparent signs of any rust to the frame.
A 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY CHIFFONIER WITH PEN WORK DECORATIONWith later alterations, 90cm wide; 137cm highCondition report: Overall, wear to pen work - see additional images www.bellmans.co.ukSome scuffs, scratches and general light shrinkage in areas. Shrinkage split to the right side return. Missing moulded edge to the bottom left side return (see catalogue image). Slight warp to the right hand side door. One key in frieze drawer. Later handles. Later additions and adaptions, which were made some time ago. The tiered shelf is a little awkwardly constructed and secured over the penwork board. The reverse panels show previous fittings. The back edge of the top of the chest has also been adapted or changed at some point, with a different grained timber. Minor old worm holes to the backboards and back edge of chest.
A WILLIAM IV OCCASIONAL TABLE WITH SPECIMEN MARBLE OCTAGONAL TOPOn a rosewood triform base, 43cm wide; 73cm highCondition report: Marble top is secured to the table, and is an association although it is a very good match and the dimensions fit. The stretcher across the top is also a later replacement. The marble is further secured to the table with blocking. Various small chips to the marble top and some glue repairs in two areas, probably relating to the two cracked areas, also a small section missing from the edge of the marble. Various light scuffs commensurate with use and age. Various small chips and losses to the base, including some to the gadrooned moulding along the triform base and lifting to veneers, together with a section of veneer which is attached. Other pieces of moulding to the shaft have been resecured and four sections are missing from the top of the octagonal shaft. A REGENCY INLAID MAHOGANY CHEVAL MIRRORWith twin candle sconce and downswept supports, 78cm wide; 173cm highCondition report: Overall, in good decorative order. The mirror glass with light scuffs and scratches overall and some speckles of oxidisation, although quite mild considering age. Metal mounts with some loose casting, dirt and dust. One drip pan is lopsided and the turning handle mounts a sit slightly off the rounded edge of the upright. A HEPPLEWHITE REVIVAL MAHOGANY FRAMED SQUARE BACK SOFAOn turned supports,198cm wide; 84cm highCondition report: A good, sturdy frame in overall good functional condition. Originally caned, with evidence to caning to the seat rails. Some areas of old worm evident to the seat rails, as to be expected. Some veneer cracks as to be expected with some reglued down and a few patch repairs to the back seat rail at the reverse. The arms have also been resecured with plug marks badly concealed but these would be easily disguised. Old screw holes and screw heads visible along the back rails of the seat back. The back left leg with a spliced repair or path to the side of the leg. Otherwise, light scuffs, scratches, some dents and minor veneer cracks commensurate with use and age.
HEAL’S; A LIMED OAK THREE DRAWER CHESTOn block supports, 58cm wide; 84cm highCondition report: Overall in good, functional condition. Some light scuffs, marks and minor wear commensurate with use and age. Two small old tack holes to the front right visible. The back with two vacant holes either side, at the top of the uprights and a few other tack holes along the back of the top edge. Originally a dressing table, with the mirror supports removed and top slightly reduced. Minor shrinkage to the top of the right upright, which has been pinned. A black mark to the left front corner, which has been blended out a little. A very slight gap below the top. Wear around the escutheon edges. No key. Ivorine inset label with rubbed name.
A 19TH CENTURY OAK FRAMED RECTANGULAR MIRRORWith an egg and dart border, 175.5cm wide; 95cm highCondition report: Please see additional images on www.bellmans.co.uk for the mirror plate. The mirror plate with the inevitable light scratches, dirt, dust and some light spotting. Plate is intact with no apparent cracks or dings. The frame with some shrinkage to the timber at the mitred corners. Minor small chips and scuffs in areas, along the edges.

Light scuffs, knocks and minor abrasions in areas commensurate with use and age. Rubbing to the knob handles.
