DEUTSHCHE REICHSBAHN (GERMAN THIRD REICH STATE RAILWAY) TABLECLOTH, NAPKINS & SILVER CUTLERY SET PRODUCED FOR WAGON NUMBER 10 282. THE CARRIAGE WAS PRESENTED TO ADOLF HITLER FOR HIS 50TH BIRTHDAY IN 1939 AND WAS A UNIQUE ALL GLASS OBSERVATION WAGON INTENDED TO BE INCORPORATED INTO HIS PERSONAL TRAIN, THE FUHRERSONDERZUG 'AMERIKA', BUT DUE TO THE OUTBREAK OF WORLD WAR 2 THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. THE TABLE CLOTH IS PROBABLY THE ONLY ONE KNOWN TO EXIST TODAY MAKING IT HISTORICALLY RARE ALONG WITH THE CUTLERY AND NAPKINS WHERE ONLY A VERY FEW HAVE EVER APPEARED. THE GROUPING CONSISTS OF A LARGE SQUARE TABLECLOTH PRODUCED IN FINE BEIGE COLOURED CLOTH WHICH HAS A GOLD SILKY APPEARANCE FINELY MACHINE EMBROIDERED LARGE DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN EAGLE & SWASTIKA WITH D TO THE LEFT AND R TO THE RIGHT. TO THE BOTTOM CORNER IS STITCHED 282. FOUR SMALL TABLE NAPKINS IN THE SAME DESIGN AS THE TABLE CLOTH WITH THE CARRIAGE NUMBER 282 ALSO STITCHED TO THE CORNER. FULL SET OF SILVER TABLEWARE CONSISTING OF FOUR DINNER FORKS EACH WITH DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN EMBLEM TO THE STEM AND REVERSE STAMPED WITH 800 SILVER MARKS AND 282 CARRIAGE NUMBER, FOUR DINNER KNIVES WITH DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN EMBLEM TO THE STEM AND 800 SILVER MARKS TO THE TOP WITH THE REVERSE HAVING 282 CARRIAGE NUMBERS, FOUR DESSERT FORKS WITH DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN EMBLEM 800 SILVER MAKRS AND 282 CARRIAGE NUMBER TO THE REVERSE AND FOUR SMALL DESSERT SPOONS WITH DEUTSCHE REICHSBAHN EMBLEM 800 SILVER MARKS AND 282 CARRIAGE NUMBER TO THE REVERSE. THE CARRIAGE ITSELF IS NOW TO HAVE ENDED UP ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS SOME TIME AFTER THE WAR, AND MAY STILL BE IN USE TODAY. Polish artist Yakub Erol gives the poster design an unusual Pop-Art sensitivity. Cannes Festival Promo Jacket for The Who music documentary "The Kids Are Alright" (1979). This embroidered jacket is believed to be unique and was made by Mary Bassel to promote "The Kids Are Alright", first at the Cannes Film Festival and subsequently at premiere events worldwide. The jacket was acquired from Mike Curbishley, the son of The Who's manager c. 1980 and full Provenance to this effect is supplied. Mary Bassel is famed for creating tour jackets for the likes of Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Dire Straits etc and examples of her jackets can be found in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum, Ohio.Size smallCondition: GoodJacket has been worn and has a few light marks.
