Lot 105

Sea Gazing - Watercolour, ink, acrylic. A pathway leads from a bright open space into a shadowy wood - or is it leading from the shadows into the light? To travel in the natural landscape, no matter what the direction or the terrain, enriches the mind, body and soul and balances our view of the World. A necessary escape from the pressures of the urban and industrial landscape..

Towards the Light - Oil on Board. "Towards the light" was inspired by a visit to a beach on the North West Coast of Ireland. After a surf session just before last light, the dark stormy sky over an empty beach, started to allow flickers of light and colour to break through, culminating in an amazing glimpse of the sun setting. The painting is trying to show however much darkness there seems to be, there is always light trying to break through.

Lot 24

The Last Reed Bed - Quick drying oil. My submission is a piece called The Last Reed Bed. It reflects the survival of natural spaces in our environment. I personally love Reed beds for their changing appearance throughout the year and the way light alters the appearance especially when water is involved. Of course they are a haven for the majestic Harriers circling above and the Reed bunting. Capturing the wind swept landscape and the colours of nature was the aim.
