An Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring, the central rectangular emerald cut Burmese sapphire (measuring 12.12mm x 8.81mm x 5.20mm), approximate weight 5.66 carats, with three square cut diamonds to each shoulder, all set in white metal to a plain polished shank, approximate ring size M, weight 4.7gms With accompanying Gemmological Certification Services report no. 81298-70, stating that the carat weight is 5.66ct approx, that the stone is a natural corundum sapphire, of Myanmar (Burma) origin and there are no indications of heating. Condition Report; Central Sapphire: Good order. There is a small fracture to the girdle/underside of the stone, located at one of the canted corners just next to the claw. This measures approximately 1 - 1.5mm across. It is not visible from a table view of the stone. There is also a very minor nibble to one of the corners on the girdle. This is only visible at 10x. There are some very minor scratches and signs of light wear to the upper facets, but no other fractures or nibbles. All facets edges are crisp and sharp.All diamonds are present and in tact. No chipping or fractures, very minor wear only. They are bright and sparkly when viewed face up, and do not show a notable draw of colour. A couple of the diamonds show very small inclusions under a 10x lens.All stones are secure. There is damage to the gallery setting (one of the bands is broken and may require repair - see side profile pictures for illustration. There is some wear to the claws around the sapphire. Evidence of re-sizing to the band.Also pictured: The stone is shown in two pictures with direct torch light shining behind it.

There is heavy to the settings, most notably loss to the tip of one stone (this can be seen in the first, second and third images, pictured second from the left). There is also a large split to the bottom of the setting of the stone pictured second from the right. All show some degree of denting, misshaping and wear. None of the stones seem loose in their settings, but could not be described as secure due to the settings current state. Shank is in good order, no signs of thinning, splitting, resizing or repair. Moderate scratching and wear to the exterior and interior. Some scratching and minor loss to the niello, but this is largely in good order. Interior strap shows slight signs of pulling but is largely in good order. Cover opens smoothly and snaps shut. Button release mechanism is working, but is stiff.

WORLD WAR II NAVAL INTEREST: A silver cigarette case by Page, Keen & Page, Birmingham 1939, inscribed 'H. West H.M.S. "Escort" from 'Athenia' survivors 4.9.39', 8.1cm x 7cm, along with a George V silver cigarette box by William Comyns & Sons Ltd, London 1945, of rectangular form with three compartment hardwood interior, inscription to cover 'Commander and Mrs. West from the Commodore and Ward Room Officers R.N. Barracks Chatham 12th October 1946', 19.2cm x 8.7cm x 5.2cm, together with a silver cigarette case and a Ronson white metal lighter, 4cm x 3.5cm (3) This cigarette case appears to have been a gift of gratitude from the Survivors of the Athenia disaster to Commander H West of HMS Escort. Athenia was the first UK ship to be sunk by Germany during World War II after Britain declared war on Hitler on the 3rd September 1939. Just hours later, German submarine U-30 torpedoed the Athenia. Over 100 civilians lost their lives and the sinking was condemned as a war crime. H West aboard HMS Escort rescued some 300 passengers from the sinking Athenia and it appears that this case was gifted to him as a token of gratitude. Condition Report; Cigar box: Good order. Some light denting, but no splitting, thinning or signs of repair. Moderate scratching and wear to the exterior. lettering to cover is worn, but is clear and legible. Some scratching and wear to the wooden interior, but this is largely in good order. Moderate scratching and wear to the leather base.Cigarette case: Very heavy denting. No splitting or signs of repair. Some wear to the lettering on the front, but this is still crisp and legible. Push button mechanism is working, cover opens smoothly and closes flush with a snap. Heavy pulling to the internal elastic. Moderate scratching and wear to the gilt interior.Lighter: Currently not in working order.

A set of four Edwardian silver and enamel menu card holders by Sampson Mordan & Co, Chester, each individually enamelled with a game bird, depicting a duck, a grouse, a pheasant and a partridge, each on a plain polished circular base, three dated 1907 and marked '10', one dated 1908 and marked '11', each stamped 'RD402227', each 3.5cm high, complete in a fitted Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd case (at fault)Condition Report; There is a large crack/loss to enamel on the partridge example, measuring 12mm across - please see the picture provided which illustrated this. There is no loss to the enamel on any of the other examples. All enamel shows some scratching and light wear consistent with age and use.The example with the duck is slightly bent, leaning back further then the other examples. Please see the additional image which illustrates this. The clip to the partridge example is very slightly slick (the teeth do not sit completely flat against the panel), but all clips are secure and in working order. Each pieces some small denting and pitting concentrated around the borders. No splitting or repair to any of the metal.Hallmarks and dates are clear to the majority of pieces, however there is some wear to the Sampson Mordan hallmark on the grouse example. This is example is dated 1908.One of the hinges to the box cover is broken. There is heavy wear and tear to the case exterior. Some moderate wear to the interior, but the card holders sit securely in their settings.

A Charles I silver seal-top spoon by Edward Hole, London 1626, fig-shaped bowl with tapered stem, the seal top engraved with a phoenix crest, traces of gilding to bowl, stem and seal, 16.8cm long, weight 1.49ozt Provenance: Ruyton Hall, Shropshire Condition Report; Bowl: Good order. Some denting to the reverse of the bowl. Heavy wear to the gilding, particularly on the reverse. Light pitting, moderate scratching and general wear to front and reverse. No splitting or signs of repair. Crown leopard mark lightly worn, but is clear.Handle: Good order. Very heavy wear to the gilding on the handle. Moderate pitting, heavy scratching, particularly to the facet edges on the spoon (see pictures). Very slight signs of bending to the handle. Wear to hallmarks, but they are clear and legible.Terminal: Fair order. There is a moderate amount of wear to the detailing, some pitting and moderate scratching and wear. Very heavy wear to the gilding. Engraved crest to the seal is crisp and clear.
A George V silver and enamelled pill box by William Neale, Birmingham 1929, of circular form on three raised feet, with turquoise guilloche enamel decoration to hinged lid, 7.1cm diameter, together with an Art Deco silver mirror, marked for ?G Co? London 1933, 7.5cm diameter (2) Provenance: Ruyton Hall, ShropshireCondition Report: Trinket Box: Very good. No chipping or loss to the enamel, only light scratching. There is a light dent to the rim of base, but no other denting, splitting or repair. Hinged cover opens smoothly and closes flush. Some wear to the hallmarks, but they are legible. Feet are in good order, the box sits flat on a level surface. The gilt on the interior is in very good order, but there is moderate wear to the gilt around the rim consistent with contact with the lid.Mirror: Good order. Glass is in tact. Handle in good order Small dents to the reverse and around the border. Moderate amount of scratching. No signs of splitting or signs of repair. Engraved decoration has worn in some areas, but is mostly crisp. Hallmarks show some wear (particularly maker's marks) but are all legible.
