Qing dynasty, Qianlong period(1736-1795). The original copy of “Painted enamel Chinese peony and pheasant design pear-shaped vase with Qianlong mark”, which is the key highlights of the collections of Tianjin Museum. In 2005, at the invitation of the Tianjin Museum, it was produced by Wang Hui. After expert evaluation and comparison with the original vase seven times, the craft level has reached the standard of porcelain manufacturing in the Qing Dynasty. Only a batch of 5 successful firings, one of which was permanently collected by the Tianjin Museum, and replaced the authentic daily display. This item is the second one.The vase is small and exquisite, elegant and dignified. The body is light and thin, with painted enamels on the glaze. The top and the bottom of the neck have been decorated with blue plantain leaf designs and the body is decorated in painted enamels, depicting pheasants and peonies, gorgeous color and vivid. The empty white area features a poem in black script. This vase combines the arts of poetry, calligraphy, painting and seals.Height 16.3cm, Diameter of rim 4cm, Diameter of foot 5cm

A large Antique Book - BRITISH FRESHWATER FISHES by Rev W Houghton - A Large volume containing 41 full size colour plates of various Fish - 61 Fish are detailed, some plates showing 2 or 3 fish, hence only 41 plates - All appears complete - Measuring 14.6" x 11.25" x 1.55" deep appx. Total of 204 pages. In good overall condition, rubbed leading corners on boards, one page edged in cellotape, some light foxing on some pages and a few plates. Not dated, but appears to date to circa 1870's - 80's. Details of every plate available upon request.

Group of six FOB SEALS, late 18th century / early 19th century. These historically interesting seals have been mostly identified, by means of inscriptions on an old piece of paper, and additionally with two attached very old tags. They measure between 30mm & 39mm high, and each have intaglio carved family crests in hardstones, 3 x Carnelian, 2 x white Onyx or similar & 1 x light green stone. Two are, at least in part, gold coloured metal, and test as gold, and apart from the hardstone, there may well be loading and base metal reinforcements, the other 4 are Pinchbeck or similar gold plated metal. The paper reads SEALS OF … Hugh Hayward of Chester, Edward Hayward of Goldstone, John Vardon (my grandfather) & Mr Vardon (my uncle), the attached labels read .. Edward Hayward Goldstone, his seal 2 Aug 1827 & John Vardon his seal 22 Feb 1809. Goldstone, referred to in this description, is a small village / hamlet near Market Drayton, Shropshire. The family home was Goldstone Hall. (6)
George III large silver salver, hallmarks for London 1831. Measuring 44cm wide. Weight 2039g. Bears an extensive but light inscription relating to Hugh James Vardon 1850, both to front and rear.This salver was presented, together with a smaller salver, which bears a presentation inscription to Hugh James Vardon in 1850. The inscription on the smaller salver makes reference to another, larger salver (the one in this lot). The smaller salver is for sale in Lot 1149.
An interesting collection of WWII Air Raid Precautions (ARP) related material together with other WWII items - including ARP wardens brass and wooden handled bell, Air Raid Warning wooden rattle, ARP silver badge and whistle, two standard issue gas masks unused in original boxes (one with original canvas carrying bag) and a pair of Lucas wartime cycle lamps made from black tin with cowls to hide the light from the aircraft above, as issued in original box. Plus two money boxes disguised as tinned produce.
