In this design, the head, limbs and tail are all jointed and fully posable. Cat is made from light gray colored mohair which has been highlighted with additional gray striping only adding to her authenticity. She has tiny tan claws stitched on her paws. Cat`s face is detailed with tiny greenish-yellow and black slit pupil eyes, a pink hand embroidered nose and mouth, and a few clear monofilament whiskers. UNUSUALLY LARGE STEIFF VELVET RATTLE CAT WITH BUTTON. This circa 1906 Steiff velvet rattle cat is unusual for its size; Steiff traditionally made rattle style items with smaller sized items that would scale to the size of a toddler`s hand. Cat is sitting, unjointed, and made from velvet that has been painted with black and grey spots and stripes. He has a very long tail which sticks out straight behind him. Cat`s serious face is detailed with tiny green and black slit pupil eyes and a light tan hand-embroidered nose. This cat design appeared overall in the Steiff line in 10, 12, 14, 17, and 22 cm in white and grey velvet from 1899 through 1927. Cat retains his tiny blank button as his Steiff ID. EXTREMELY RARE AND VERY EARLY VELVET STEIFF RATTLE CAT WITH ELEPHANT BUTTON. This circa 1905 Steiff velvet rattle is truly the cat`s meow. Cat is lying, unjointed, and made from white velvet that has been painted with black and grey spots and stripes. He has a very long tail which sticks out straight behind him. Cat wears a red bow and bell, and most interestingly, his highly coveted and earliest elephant style button is attached to the red ribbon. Cat holds a tiny gray and red woolen yarn ball between his front paws. Cat`s pensive face is detailed with tiny green and black slit pupil eyes, a light tan hand-embroidered nose and mouth, and clear monofilament whiskers. Cat also has a rattle in its belly; Steiff created this feature by inserting a tube with beads into the torso of the item. This cat design appeared overall in the Steiff line in 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14cm in white and grey velvet from 1899 through 1929. Cat retains his elephant button as his Steiff ID. LATE 1920s STEIFF MOHAIR BEGGING RABBIT WITH BUTTON AND MUSTER BUTTON. Rabbit is begging, head jointed, and made from white and light gold mohair. He has three tan hand-embroidered claws on his back legs. His long ears were lined in wire and were originally posable. His face is detailed with large black and brown pupil eyes, a pink hand-embroidered nose and mouth, and a clear monofilament whisker. Nonworking squeaker in belly. He has a Steiff ""Muster"" button, indicating that this particular item was actually designed as an in-house sample that was not meant for outside distribution. This beloved and popular design was produced in sizes ranging from 11 to 70cm overall in light brown, white, gold, purple, pink, and light blue from 1926 through 1933. BRIGHT ORANGE MOHAIR STEIFF RABBIT WITH BUTTON ON WOODEN ECCENTRIC WHEELS. Rabbit is begging, head jointed and made from white and gloriously vibrant orange mohair. This color is not specifically mentioned in the standard Steiff Sortiment reference books for this item. The ears are lined in wire and are posable. Rabbit`s face is detailed with large black and brown glass pupil eyes and a red hand-embroidered nose and black mouth and clear monofilament whiskers. Bell appears original but ribbon is probable replacement. The white mohair lining of the rabbit`s ears are touched with a bit of pink airbrushed highlights. He rides upon four olive green wooden eccentric wheels, giving the appearance of the rabbit hopping as the cart is pulled along. Cat is unjointed and made from white mohair which was originally airbrushed with light brown stripes. His tail is quite long and thin and is positioned straight outward. His bow and bell are not original. Cat`s face is detailed with oversized green and black slit pupil eyes and a pink hand-embroidered nose. Steiff produced this design in white, and white and brown, in 13 and 15cm from 1927 through 1928 only. EARLY MERRYTHOUGHT CHEEKY BEAR. Circa 1960. An early tan rayon plush Merrythought Cheeky bear with bells sewn into his large ears. Bear is 5-ways jointed with brown felt paw pads with five black claws on each. Cheeky`s face is detailed with black and brown eyes, an inset golden velveteen muzzle, and a black hand-embroidered nose and mouth. This design got its name in 1956 because of the bear`s playful and delightful wide smile. The label is sewn onto the right foot pad and reads ""MERRYTHOUGHT IRONBRIDGE SHROPS. MADE IN ENGLAND REGD DESIGN"". SIZE: Overall 15"" t (38cm). Sitting 11"" t (28cm). PROVENANCE: Chuck & Cathy Steffes Collection. A PAIR OF WHITE CUT TO GREEN BOHEMIAN GLASS THREE-LIGHT CANDELABRA Each electric candelabrum in cased white over green glass with cut-back panels with enameled floral and foliate motif throughout, the central standard issuing the arms, each terminating in a single light and suspending crystal swags and lusters. H 25 x W 18 x D 7 inches.
Great War aviation interest, a section of fabric purported to have been cut from the B.E.2 flown by Lieut. Wulstan Joseph Tempest when he shot down Zeppelin L.31 over Potter`s Bar, black finish with white skull and crossed bones motif, with a painted legend giving the supposed provenance; together with a piece of wire from Zeppelin S.L. 11, brought down at Cuffley in September 1916, sealed in a contemporary souvenir envelope; and a postcard depicting her fall. (3) Lt. Tempest was originally commissioned in the King`s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Having served in the front line (wounded at First Ypres), he transferred to the RFC. On the night of 1st/2nd October 1917 he intercepted L.31, in spite of severe technical trouble with his own aircraft, and shot her down in a single pass. He narrowly escaped becoming caught in the falling wreckage, and finally, overcome with fatigue, survived a crash landing upon his return.
A British pattern 1827 Rifle Brigade officer`s sword, light model, slender etched blade 32 in., steel `gothic` hilt with stringed bugle, metal mounted leather scabbard; together with a replica cavalry broadsword, 18th Century style with broad blade and semi-basket hilt, leather scabbard. (2)
"Camaret", Rene Lalique frosted glass Lamp circa 1930's, decorated in relief with alternating bands of stylised fish, etched R Lalique, France mark to underside of circular foot rim, now fitted as a lamp, approx. 15cm high (not including brass light fitting) CONDITION REPORT: Etched 'R Lalique France'. Mark to underside of foot rim. Very minor scratching to underside of foot rim otherwise appears in OK condition, apart from a small 1cm chip coming from underneath metal collar. Base drilled for lamp wire, see images.
An Art Deco circular walnut two tier table. Diameter 24 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Height is 25 ins, diameter 23.5 ins. The piece is generally in good structural condition. There are obviously small scratches and odd marks to the top surface and two lower tiers commensurate with the age of the piece. There are however no significant problems and with a light polish and clean the table could be used in its present condition without the need for any extensive repair or restoration.
