A bracket clock, the 17.5 cm arch square brass dial signed Rich'd Day, London, having a matt centre, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, gilt brass spandrels and Strike/Silent subsidiary dial to the arch, fitted an eight day movement, the back plate and pendulum engraved foliage, in a mahogany case with gilt metal mounts (lacks bells), with a key and pendulum, 53 cm high See illustration Condition report Report by GH This lot hasn't been offered for auction before. Case is generally in good condition with some small cracks to veneer and the occasional light scratch commensurate with age. The right hand side of the moulding below the top canopy appears to have a chip where the two pieces of moulding connect. The pierced wood on both sides of the clock has damage. The left hand side as you face the clock has more damage with almost all of the pierced latticework broken off and missing. On the right hand side there are three or four parts of the lattice missing on the bottom left hand side. There is further damage to the wood as you open the door to reveal the face where three parts of the surrounding wood to the face are cracked with one cracked and displaying some loss. The face itself is in good condition with slight age related discolouring to the metal and a possibility that either the hour or minute hand is not original as they don't match. Looking at the movement through the back of the clock, the movement has almost certainly been taken out at some point and there are at least two screws missing from the brackets which hold the movement on to the case and as mentioned in the description the bells are missing from the back of the movement. Also visible from the back of the clock the piece of moulding on the right hand side of the door is loose at the top and the moulding that surrounds the top of the clock has also been chipped on the right hand side and there is a gap where the mouldings meet. But overall presents well. Charterhouse does not guarantee the working condition of any watches or clocks.
