A Third Reich Naval officers light grey leather coat, stamped on the front with large Kriegsmarine eagle, gilt buttons, wool lining, with maker’s label "Waber & Fehling, Koln", and owner’s name "Schmidt". Near VGC for age, together with a pair of matching leather trousers (some wear).. (2)
A chamois lined leather flying helmet; an oxygen mask with Air Ministry stamps; a Gosport tube; a pair brown sheepskin flying boots; a pair cavalry twill breeches and brown leather calf length boots worn by the vendor in WWII; a pair black leather calf length boots stated to have been worn by drummer, Hereford Light Infantry. A French M1822 light cavalry sword, slightly curved, fullered blade 35½" with narrow back fuller, marked Mre Nle de Chatt Mars 1871 Cavrie on backstrap, regulation brass 3 bar hilt, wirebound leather grip, in its steel scabbard. Basically GC (grip covering replaced, scabbard painted black over pitting)
An unusual William IV light cavalry officers sword, with 1821 patt blade, grip, pommel and backstrap, but knucklebow guard, slightly curved, pipe backed blade 35½", etched with crowned WIV cypher and laurel wreath in plain panel, heavy knucklebow guard with pronounced bulge, wirebound fishskin covered grip, in its steel scabbard. GC (cleaned pitting to hilt and scabbard, patches of fishskin missing from grip, scabbard throat AF)
An early Vic 1822 pattern infantry officer’s sword, very slightly curved, pipe back blade 32½", by C Herbert & Co, London, etched with crowned VR cypher and wreath within panels, regulation gilt brass hilt with turn down inner section, incorporating crowned VR cypher, wirebound fishskin grip, in an associated brass mounted leather scabbard with escutcheon of "Nicholls...London" on the locket. GC (blade sharpened for service, a little wear and light pitting, approx 60% hilt gilt rubbed, scabbard leather AF)
A bandsman’s sword, straight DE blade, 21", with traces of etching at forte, brass S shaped crosspiece with ornamental langets, solid grip, lion’s head pommel, grip stamped TV.R 16 (worn and light pitted); a near relic 1796 infantry sword, broad DE blade with traces of etching, gilt shell guard with unusual turn down portion (remainder of hilt AF), and a sabre with traces of blued and gilt decoration, (hilt AF). FC to QGC. (3)
An interesting Volunteer sidearm in the style of a hunting hanger, slightly curved saw backed blade, 24", brass crossguard (similar to that on a cavalry officer’s boat shell guard), staghorn grip, brass cap and ball pommel, in its leather scabbard with military style locket, middle band and chape, with hanging rings. GC (chain knucklebow missing, blade polished over light pitting with heavy patches at tip, hole in locket)
A late Vic 1821 pattern heavy cavalry officer’s sword, almost straight fullered blade 35", by Wilkinson no 31110 (1891), etched with crowned R Arms and cypher within elaborate panels, regulation ‘honeysuckle’ hilt, and a Geo 1803 pattern light company infantry officer’s sabre, broad curved blade 29", gilt brass cross guard and lion’s head pommel (knucklebow missing), both with wirebound fishskin grips. QGC. (2)
A Vic General officer’s mameluke hilted sword, slightly curved, flat blade 30", by Simmons Brothers, Cockspur St, Pall Mall, London, etched with crowned VR cypher crossed baton and sword in wreath, within scrolled foliate panels, embossed brass crossguard, bone grips with rosettes, in its plated scabbard. GC (some wear and light pitting, scabbard replated)
A scarce .177" Abas Major underlever air pistol, c 1946, number 1797, the trigger guard/cocking lever stamped "Abas" on one side and "Reg Design 845425, A A Brown & Sons, B’ham" on the other side, loading tap at breech, chequered brown plastic grips. GWO & clean condition (some light surface rust); in an adapted revolver holster. Note: Only about 2000 of these pistols were made during 1945-46. Pistol only
A .177" BSA Improved Model D side catch underlever air rifle, 43¾" overall, barrel 19¼", number S70786 (c 1914), with impressed markings on air chamber (worn), and BSA patents on the underlever, walnut butt with chequered pistol grip and ivory retailer’s plaque of Cox & Son, Southampton, folding aperture sight mounted on butt. GWO & C (slightly worn overall with some light pitting)
A 10 bore military pattern percussion carbine by Lacy & Co, 42½" overall, barrel 26½" with London proofs, the lock and side caps of Lovells 1842 pattern, walnut fullstock with 2 flat wedges securing the barrel, regulation brass mounts, original steel ramrod. GWO & C (light pitting and age patina overall, sling swivels removed, chip to fore end above lock).
A brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss with spring bayonet, by J. Storrs, London, c 1820, 29½" overall, bell mouth barrel 14" with octagonal breech bearing Birmingham proofs, engraved London in gothic script, and with 12½" spring bayonet released by thumb catch on breech tang, flat stepped lock with safety bolt, rainproof pan and roller on frizzen spring, the plate engraved with scrolls and "J. Storrs", walnut fullstock with finely chequered twist, engraved steel mounts, brass tipped wooden ramrod with concealed worm. GWO & generally untouched condition, (dark patina to metalwork, with some surface rust and light pitting to steel parts). See front cover
A 19thC oak and mahogany longcase clock, of eight-day movement, striking on a bell, the painted arch dial with Roman numerals and seconday dials, signed 'Wilson, Birmingham', the arch painted with shipping, the spandrels with light houses and churches, the hood with swan-neck pediment, turned pilasters, the trunk with a painted arch door, on bracket feet, 87½" high.
