THE MINOR BIRDS - S/T - The wonderful self titled release from the band from round our way(!), an essential addition to any discerning Folk collector. Issued on Alan Green's Midas Recordings (MFHR045). The record is in lovely clean Ex condition with only a couple of extremely minor, light, faint and wispy surface markings. With great clean labels. The sleeve, which is signed 'Best wishes from the Minor Birds' is in VG+ condition with a light crease on the bottom right (front) which extends a little to the bottom left (reverse).
SAXONS - DRAGGIN' AROUND - Extremely hard to track down four track EP from the Exeter quintet, producing an extremely sophisticated sound from 1964. Self released on Rondo Records (GSP EP? 9100/9101 matrix). The record is in VG+ condition with a couple of light surface marks - these never extend deeper and there are no heavier scratches. The sleeve is in VG+ condition with some light wear to the reverse (no rips or tears).
NICK DRAKE - FIVE LEAVES LEFT - The 1st UK pressing of the groundbreaking debut release from Nick Drake - an album that seems to have eventually got the recognition it deserves. Original UK pressing Island (ILPS 9105 pink/black block bullseye logo). The record (with misprinted tracks A4/5) is in quite magnificent Ex+ or archive condition. A superb copy, there are very few markings to note - the labels are very crisp, bright and sharp with only rather light spindle markings. A//2 & B//2 matrix endings. The sleeve is in clean Ex condition with some light 'rubbing' to the front cover and on the inside of the gatefold - this is only light and there are no rips or tears.
SPIROGYRA - OLD BOOT WINE - The marvelous 2nd LP from Lancashire legends Spirogyra (definitely not to be confused with the substandard US rock band!), issued on PEG (PEG 13). The record is in well presented VG+ condition with some light hairline markings, perhaps slightly more apparent on side 1. The fragile sleeve is in VG condition. The nature of the sleeve means there is not really a 'spine', but there is wear to this side and indeed some general wear around the edges. THere are no rips or tears.

The Original "Mosada" Portrait Yeats (John Butler). A fine pen-and-ink Portrait of his son W.B. Yeats, signed 'J.B. Yeats fecit', dated 1886, circa 9 ins x 9 ½ ins, on light card, mounted, slightly shaded where previously framed. * This is the original 'Mosada' portrait, reproduced with the narrative poem of that name in W.B. Yeats' legendary first publication, essentially an offprint from the Dublin University Review. When J.B. Yeats proposed adding the portrait, W.B.Y. initially demurred, saying it might seem pretentious for a young poet to include a portrait with his first publication, but JBY was not to be denied. It is a fine and sensitive portrait, hinting both at WBY's determination and at his vulnerability. [For those who lack a copy of Mosada for comparison, the portrait is reproduced as frontispiece to Wade's bibliography]. A truly iconic item. Published in an edition of probably 100 copies, Mosada has for many years been all but unobtainable. Provenance: The Yeats Family Collection.
