A circa 1900 French gilt bronze and alabaster cased mantel clock, the eight day movement by Samuel Marti of Paris, the circular enamelled dial with Arabic numerals inscribed "Le Roy à Paris", the case as a cherub beating a drum upon an oval base with cherubic panel and floral and foliate decoration, 23 cm wide x 15 cm deep x 31 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Whilst the case is basically sound, there are signs of wear and tear conducive with age and use to the gilding, the drum beater is bent/cracked - see image. The circular dial has a chip by the keyhole at eight o'clock. The lettering to the dial has wear, particularly on the L of Le Roy. The wings have light cracking at the join with the back - see images for further detail

A Chinese Qianlong Period blue and white export ware coffee pot with floral and bamboo decorated tapered cylindrical body, the associated lid with watery landscape decoration and gilt decorated knob handle, 24 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The lid is associated, the gilding is worn to the finial, in need of a good clean, The pot itself has hairline cracks around the top and the base of the spout as well as the larger area around the base of the handle. Has various firing faults throughout and some small chips to the glaze, predominantly to the handle and the spout. 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL "Study of cows in a landscape by river" bears label verso inscribed "Thomas Smyth" 36 cm x 51 cm CONDITION REPORTS Please note this piece has been re-lined. The overall image appears to be in good clean condition. The frame has some damage to the top right corner and the joints are slightly loose. See images for further detail. The labels are later, one dated 8-1-62 (presumed to be 1962). The inscription of Thomas Smyth is much later. Under UV light there are many signs of restoration and re-painting throughout, particularly to the cows in the foreground and the right hand side of the painting, particularly visible to the sky and the trees area. There are also signs of re-painting spots to the left hand side of the sky. See images for further detail.

A 19th Century commemorative gilt brass tondo for Admiral Lord Nelson after Peter Wyon circa 1806, the left facing bust inscribed Admiral Lord Nelson, initialled under shoulder "P.W.F." (Peter Wyon fecit) with oak leaf and acorn border within an ebonised circular frame with convex glass 16.5 cm diameter together with another embossed card tondo for the Duke of Wellington, the left facing portrait bust within an inscription "Wellington Generalissime" CONDITION REPORTS The gilt brass tondo - has some light surface scratching and some areas of pitting. The frame itself has been broken and repaired and some of the lacquer/ebonisation is flaking and there are a couple of chips. The embossed card is discoloured to the centre and there is a white powdery look to some of the highlights. The frame itself has a few knocks and bashes. The paper on the back has been cut as if it has previously been taken out of the frame. Both are in need of a good clean throughout. A French silver trinket box. Charles Forgelot, Paris, 1901-1928. Of circular form with beaded borders to engine turned lid and sides, the pull off lid decorated with garlands bordering a quatrefoil foliate motif, faint gilding to interior, stamped with French export mark, 950 standard, 8.5cm dia.The trinket box together with: a rectangular green guilloché enamelled silver cigarette case, stamped 925, with import mark for George Stockwell, London, 1926, the hinged cover opening to gilded interior, 5.5 x 8.5cm; a yellow guilloché enamelled cigarette case with gilded interior, stamped with Dutch 835 standard mark, 6.8 x 8.6cm; and a small, circular Portuguese dish with pierced sides and repousse garland to base. 833 standard, 8.7cm dia., weighable silver approx. 3.6ozt (4)  Condition Report: The two enamelled cases are not included in the weighable silver. The circular box in good condition. Some dings noted to body. Scratches to underside. Some bruising and scratching to interior. The box closes snugly: the cover sits very slightly raised. Standard mark stamped to rim and to rim of the cover. Maker’s mark stamped to rim of the cover, partly rubbed. A nice piece in general good condition. The green enamel case with general scratching and some losses noted to the enamel. Tarnishing to the mounting. The gilding to interior with some tarnishing. The lid rim is bent on one side but the case still closes snugly. The hinge mechanism in good condition. Some dings to mounting. Marks clearly stamped to interior and partly stamped to the lid rim. The yellow enamel case with minor losses noted to the enamel. Some tarnishing and wear to the mounting. The gilding to interior with some wear, tarnishing and minor scratches, as well as minor losses to the lid rim. Some minor scratches to mounting. The case closes snugly and the hinge mechanism is in good condition. The circular dish in good condition. Some surface scratching and light pitting. A pair of Queen Anne silver salt cellars. James Goodwin, London, 1713. Of circular form with a single band to body and stepped borders to rims, together with a pair of salt shovels (associated), marks erased, engraved with crests to reverse, total weight approx. 6.1ozt (4) Provenance: Property from the estate of the late David Cornwell, best known as the author John le Carré.Condition Report: In good condition commensurate with age. General surface scratching, pitting and nicking. Some minor dings noted to bodies. Some dings to the moulded banding of one of the salt cellars. Small dark marks which have not been removed by a light polish – possibly salt corrosion. Marks clear to undersides. One cellar very slightly wobbly on foot. The two spoons with some salt corrosion and surface scratching. One of the spoons with some dings and bruising noted to its bowl. One bowl misshapen towards end. The crests to the reverse of the spoons with some wear. Hallmarks completely rubbed. Salt cellars approx. 7.3cm dia., 3cm high. Spoons approx. 8.8cm long. Chatterley & Sons, Birmingham, 1968. Of curved rectangular form, with engine turned design to body and vacant cartouche to one side, designed with a screw cap, 9 x 13.5cm approx. weight 7.7ozt Condition Report: The hip flask is in good condition commensurate with age. Some general surface scratching and nicking but no damage or repairs noted. Some minor bruising in places commensurate with light use. When tested with water, no leaks to body but when shaken vigorously some small drops escaping from under cap. Cork is present inside cap but shows some wear and minor losses which may be the cause of the minor leak. Small ding to cap. Cap opens and closes securely and snugly. Hinge in good condition. Some scratching to panel beneath cap. Hallmarks generally clear, with only date letter slightly rubbed. Overall a nice hip flask in good condition. A Victorian silver inkstand. Edward, John & William Barnard, London, 1850. The shaped rectangular stand raised on four scroll feet and supporting a taperstick on hexagonal foot flanked by two cut glass inkwells, the stand chased with scroll patterned band and engraved with lion crest and the motto 'firmitas in coelo' (strength in heaven), the glass inkwells with knopped and pointed finials, stand engraved J. Mayer, silversmith, Liverpool to underside, registration number 335, stand 20.4 x 30.3cm, approx. 16cm high (inc. taperstick), weighable silver approx. 22.5ozt Condition Report: In overall good condition, with general surface scratching, pitting and nicking. Minor dings noted to body, including one in the area where one of the inkwells sits. One 2cm split and two minor splits noted to area upper the decorative banding (not affecting the decoration). The decoration in good condition. The crest and motto in overall good condition with light wear. Inkstand steady on feet. Some tarnishing around the feet. Marks clearly stamped to underside. The two mounted glass inkwells with some chips to edges and a few firing faults to glass. Marks stamped to collars of the covers and partly stamped to interior of the covers: marks slightly rubbed but legible. The hinge mechanisms of the covers in good condition: one cover sits slightly raised, one cover feels looser than the other. The taperstick in overall good condition, with some pitting and light wear. Marks clearly stamped, maker's mark slightly rubbed. Overall a nice piece in general good condition. The first example in the catalogue description with some tarnishing to the mount. The green ringed glass example with heavy dings, pitting and tarnishing to the mount. Hallmarks rubbed. The Edwardian yellow glass example with some heavy dings, splitting and tarnishing to mount. Hallmarks partly rubbed but still legible. Glue residues to interior of the mount. The example raised on feet with some tarnishing and dings to mount. The last example in the catalogue description with some pitting and tarnishing to the mount. A small George III Irish silver cup. John Lloyd,  Dublin, c.1770. Of short, cylindrical form with gilded interior and reeded handle, 5.7cm high (inc. handle), 6cm dia., approx. weight 2.5oztCondition Report: Some general surface scratching, nicking and minor pitting noted. Light bruising to the body and some small dings around base. Gilding to interior bright. Moderate tarnish in places. Hallmarks to underside are a little rubbed. A possible small circular patch (or possibly simply marking from a sticker but does not appear to come off with a light polish) noted to side of body and a patch and small split to rim opposite handle. Some tape residue near handle which might require soaking or a more vigorous polishing to remove and may have marked the silver. A small split and repair near handle. Some solder around handle joins.
