The maternal arms of the family NEWDEGATE or NEWDIGATE of Arbury and Astley Warwickshire. The impaled arms are likely for Charles PALMER (1692-1764), then of Warwickshire, and his wife Mary NEWDIGATE (1711-1744) daughter of Richard NEWDIGATE (1668-1727) 3rd Baronet of Arbury by Elizabeth TWISDEN (1681-1765). They were married in 1733, a short time (20 years) after the assay dates, suggesting a later engraving and/or earlier family ownership. Charles PALMER was the son of William PALMER (died 1722) of Ladbroke, Warwickshire by Mary SKRYMASTER (1656-1729).
