A .577” Volunteer 3 band Enfield percussion rifle by London Armoury Co, barrel 39” with London proofs and “L.A.C” stamp, the lock stamped with crown over “V.R”, “1860 over L.A.Co” and government inspector’s mark, walnut fullstock with regulation pattern brass mounts, sling swivels, and original steel ramrod. GWO&C, the bore clean, dark patina to steel parts (area of light bruising to stock below the lock). Until quite recently this was used for shooting, being legally held on a shotgun licence. £650-700
An Austrian 1858 pattern heavy cavalry trooper’s sword, blade 34” fullered on one side only, stamped at the forte with Vienna maker’s name (illegible), small eagle, date (?) “99” and regimental numbers, steel hilt with fishskin covered grip, in its steel scabbard. Basically GC (worn overall with light pitting, a dent in the scabbard makes it difficult to insert the blade). £100-150.
A superior quality Georgian naval officer’s sword, probably for senior officer, c 1805, flat, curved blade 28½”, with etched 1801-16 Royal Arms, crowned GR cypher, Union spray and flourishes within slender foliate panels and blued and gilt for half its length, copper gilt stirrup hilt with acanthus leaves and foliate langets, lion’s head pommel and backstrap, chequered and stained ivory grip, in its gilt mounted leather scabbard, with the hanging rings as coiled serpents, the mounts finely engraved with ornamental panels, foliate devices and floral motifs, maker’s name “Read, Sword Cutler, Portsmouth” in crowned roped strap engraved on locket. Good Condition, retaining approx 60% blueing and gilding to blade and 75% gilt to scabbard mounts (tiny edge nicks to blade and a little light pitting towards point, minor cracks and chips to grip). An American M1902 Army officer’s sword, plated blade 34”, by Baron, etched with panels of foliage, American eagle, and “US”, white metal triple bar hilt with ribbed black grips; in its white metal scabbard with leather cords and knot. GC (a few light rust spots to the blade, leather cords worn) £70-90.
A Belgian 6 shot 7mm solid closed frame double action pinfire revolver, round barrel 2¾”, Liege proved, with fluted cylinder, folding trigger, bird’s head butt with plain walnut grips and screw in ejector rod. WO & GC (cylinder fails to revolver, light wear overall), in its English blue baize lined fitted walnut veneered case, with shield shaped brass lid escutcheon, with trade label of G. Higham & Son, Warrington, containing pewter oil bottle and cleaning rod. GC Plate £250-400

A Georgian naval officer’s service sword for Commanders and above, broad, shallow fullered blade 29½”, of light cavalry type, sharpened for service, etched with crowned GR cypher, standing dragoon, trophy and florets, gilt hilt with slotted, scrolled bar guard, pierced ornamental knucklebow incorporating fouled anchor within crowned laurel wreath, lion’s head pommel and facetted backstrap, silver banded ivory grip, in its leather scabbard with line engraved mounts and 2 hanging rings, small part of original gilt bullion sword knot. Good Condition, the hilt retaining approximately 75% original gilt, the blade approximately 25% blueing and gilding. Plate 18 £400-500
A 6 shot 7mm double action open frame pinfire revolver, round barrel 3½”, B’ham proved, totally plain with folding trigger and bag shaped butt with finely chequered walnut grips. GWO & near VGC, retaining 95% of original blued finish, the chequering crisp (some light rust staining to one side of the barrel). £150-200
A Georgian naval dirk, slender curved SE blade 9”, DE at tip, with traces of blueing and gilding at forte, copper hilt, the crossguard with bud finials and double crescent langets (from Portsmouth Arms), solid pistol grip with 4 bands of 7 lines, in its engraved copper sheath with maker’s name “Read, Sword Cutler, Portsmouth” in oval, GC for age (some wear overall, light pitting to blade). £350-400
A 1796 pattern Light Cavalry officer’s sword of the Salford & Manchester Cavalry, stirrup hilt, langets on both sides, blade 33” etched with mounted trooper, crown GR and military trophy, on the reverse side a coat of arms above “Drawn in my Country’s Cause” within a wreath; VGC Plate £800-1000 Note: This regiment took part with the 15th Hussars in the infamous Peterloo Massacre at St Peter’s Fields, Manchester on August 16th 1819 where approximately 60,000 people were peacefully gathered at a political meeting to protest against poverty. The local magistrates, alarmed when they saw the volume attending, ordered the cavalry to arrest the speakers and to disperse the crowd. The cavalry men charged at the unarmed masses with drawn swords, the numbers of casualties varies with one estimate suggesting that approximately 18 civilians were killed, with a further 700 being seriously injured, these figures include women and children..
A 17th century late Charles II period plug bayonet, slightly curved blade 11”, struck on both sides with Moor’s head mark, and on one side only with dagger over “T” mark of Giles Lyndesey (granted February 1677), the brass mounted hilt having helmet head finials to quillons and pommel, and with ivory grip decorated with silver pique work in the form of entwined and reversed “C”s (alluding to Charles II), flower heads, and small rosettes. Good Condition (blade slightly worn with some light pitting, crosspiece and pommel loose). Plate £1000-1500
