Her models for the competition for a statue of Chekhov for Chekhov Boulevard in Moscow, for which this is one, all depict him in his doctor~s smock, on light airy pedestals with the seagull hovering above. When invited, it was strongly implied that she would certainly win the competition and with weak opponents she felt certain of the outcome however, the result in fact was that none of the applicants were chosen. Her friend and fellow sculptor Mr. Neroda remarked ~Do you think we Russians are going to let a foreign sculptor make a statue of our Chekhov? Not even if he were the best in the world~

A Victorian Silver Regimental Shooting Trophy Cup and Cover, of two-handled, semi-ovoid form, inscribed, ''1st. N.C.Y. (?) D. Company, Challenge Cup Presented by Capt. I.C. Drury, Won by Corporal C.A. Denny, 11th. January 1879'', the cast handles ornamented with military figures standing to attention, the cover with stacked rifles finial, the hexagonal section baluster pillar with beaded collar, spreading base, made by James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield 1871, 32.5 cm overall (25.3 oz). Scattered patches of heavy tarnish overall. Cover finial slightly bent. Several light dings to body.
An 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper's Sword, the 89cm single edge broad fullered steel blade double edged for the last 27cm, the steel three bar hilt with ribbed leather covered grip, with steel two ring scabbard; a Similar Smaller Sword, the steel three bar hilt with chequered pommel and backstrap, with steel scabbard (2). Grey patching and pitting to blades. Heavy rust pitting to hilts and scabbards. Worm damage to grips.
An 1821 Light Cavalry Officer's Sword, the 81cm single edge fullered steel blade double edged for the last 26cm, the ricasso stamped with visored helmet, the steel three bar hilt with ribbed fishskin grip bearing traces of wire binding, the steel scabbard with two loose ring suspension, 99.5cm. Grey patching to plain blade, hilt and scabbard. Lacks most of wire binding to hilt. Three dents to scabbard.

He was commissioned with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry as 2nd Lieutenant 3rd September 1925. He was commanding the 1/South Lancashire Regiment as Lt.Colonel on the D Day landing of 6th June 1944 when he was killed in action
