SCOTTISH SCHOOL (16th/17TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF ELIZABETH ARTHUR Oil on canvas, 65 x 54cm (25 3/4 x 21 1/2") Portrait of Elizabeth Arthur (d. 1657) in an exquisite dress of fine lace and needlework probably painted at the time of her marriage to George Waddell (an event recorded in a marriage stone at Balquhatstone). Property from a Stirlingshire country house Condition Report: The painting has been lined and there is light to moderate craquelure evident over much of the surface area and in particular over the darker passages. There is a patch verso corresponding to an area located at the border of the hair and right half of the face at cheek level where restoration work to a degree has been carried out. There is visible a vertical crack line in the pigment approximately 30 cm in length running down the canvas to the right of the head in the top right quarter section and a smaller similar vertical crack, approximately 3cm in length, located on the forehead area. .
BRITISH SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) PORTRAIT OF FLORENCE (GILBERT MARKS) Oil on canvas, inscribed 'Shirley' and indistinctly dated 1891(?), 40.5 x 30.5cm (16 x 12") Provenance: Gilbert Marks, silversmith (1861-1905) see also lots 250,251 Condition Report: Extremely light cracking in the pigment over the area of the hair, a vertical tear in the canvas, approx. no more than 1.5cm in length, and another diagonal tear in the canvas (not right through), no more than 1cm in length, both located in the bottom right hand quarter section. Four scratch and damage marks with paint loss to the surface, located top edge at middle and a slight abrasive spot to the canvas in the bottom right hand corner area.

AN ARTS & CRAFTS YELLOW METAL AND MOONSTONE RING AND EARRINGS ring set with a pear shaped moonstone with leaf design to the shoulders, finger size N1/2, together with a pair of yellow and white metal earrings with double moonstone cabochon drops, length 4.5cm, weight combined 6.9gms Condition Report: The ring, has light general wear, the setting has a crack along the solder seam, this can only be seen with a loope, this will have happened at the point of manufacture, and is not subsequent damage, moonstone is quite safe in its setting. The double domed shaped moonstones in the earrings are each two moonstone cabochons placed back to back to create the almost spherical shape, one has the centipede inclusions indicative of moonstones. Mount and ear wires handmade and all ok. Private vendor not trade.
A BRONZE AND ORMOLU TABLE LIGHT of candelabra form with cut glass lustre drops, the body with Bacchus masks and swags, 59cm high, together with another table lamp hugn with cut glass lustre drops and with malachite chip and enamel base, 35cm high (2) Condition Report: Main light - one of the glass candle pillars is broken at the top. missing some lustre drops and chips to some others. One arm is a bit loose. a small hole in the metal base - please see images. Malachite light - . No issues. Both are tarnished to the gilt and will need re-wiring.
