WW2 Royal Artillery Tunisia Campaign Casualty Medal Trio Awarded to Gunner Robert Hall, Royal Artillery, the group consists of 1939-45 Star, Africa Star with 1st Army Clasp and 1939-45 British War Medal. The medals have been professionally mounted in a glazed frame accompanied by the recipients original Memorial Scroll named to “Gunner R. Hall Royal Regiment of Artillery”, photograph of the recipient and a war time photograph of the recipient’s grave in Tunisia. Robert Hall, a native of Chorlton upon Medlock, Manchester. He served with 311th Battery / 90th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Royal Artillery in the North African campaign as part of the 1st Infantry Division. He was killed in action on the 28th April 1943 whilst the division was involved in heavy fighting around Bou Aoukaz. His unit would have been supporting the 24th Guards Brigade, who attacked Bou Aoukaz on the 27th April. It was in this action that Captain Charles Lyell of the Scots Guards was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on that day. Robert Hall is buried in Medjez-el-Bab War Cemetary.
WW2 British Army Bush / Slouch Hat, good example of the brown felt bush hat with brass General Service Corps badge to the front and crossed rifles proficiency badge to the side. Leather sweatband to the interior with makers details and clear 1944 date. Sweatband is inked “PTE LAMBERT. E 22471519 NPTHARNTON”. Complete with the leather chinstrap. Light service wear but generally very good condition.
1960’s Attributed Special Air Service (S.A.S) Beret by Herbert Johnson, fine example of the beige beret worn by the regiment. Cloth embroidered winged dagger regimental beret badge. Tan cloth lining with spiral stitching and Herbert Johnson tailors diamond. Underside of the beret interior front tab is inked with original owners name, “O’Toole”. Generally very good condition showing just light service wear. We have only been able to find one member of the regiment with this name at the time period of this beret, 23820162 Trooper Patrick Colm O’Toole served with “A” Squadron (1 Troop) who drowned during a canoeing exercise near Castle Martin training area off the coast of South Wales. He is buried at Hereford cemetery.
1937 / 1940 Pattern Battle Dress Trousers, with 1937 pattern belt loops to the waist and ankle tabs. Button exposed front shell dressing pocket and map pocket with concealed flap. Rear pocket also with concealed flap. Label has been removed but WD stamp has date letter “O” for 1942. Some light areas of moth but generally good condition.
Rare WW2 German Army Propaganda Company Peaked Cap, very good example with grey piping to the crown and bordering the green central band. Complete with its original aluminium cap insignia. Patent NCO’s pattern chinstrap. Interior of the cap with the original sweatband and quilted cloth lining with celluloid diamond. Very good example showing just light service wear. A very small branch of service within the German army.
Third Reich Iron Cross 1st Class by C F Zimmermann in Original Box of Issue, good example with dark patina to the frame and just light rust spots to the centre of the cross. Original pin and catch fixing to the reverse. The pin being stamped with the number “20” for the maker C F Zimmermann, Pforzheim. Housed in the original leatherette case of issue with silver leaf outline of the award to the top of the lid. Some damage to the case but otherwise a good example. Brought home to the UK by the vendors uncle who was serving as part of the Control Commission Germany in Berlin, 1945

Bullion braid to the edges and two bars to lower section. Metal anchor emblems to the centre of the boards. Some light areas of moth but generally good condition. Brought home to the UK by the vendors uncle who was serving as part of the Control Commission Germany in Berlin, 1945
Good 19th Century African Tribal Knife, broad leaf-shaped blade with panels of finely chiselled decoration, wooden hilt with sheet iron covered guard, the grip wound with copper wire and decorated with brass nail heads. Blade 39cms, overall 58cms. Good untouched condition, light even rust overall, requires cleaning.
Scarce mid -19th Century Oxford Constabulary Sidearm, regulation curved single edge blade etched in the fuller on one side ‘COUNTY OF OXFORD’ within panel, spring catch riveted to top of blade, regulation brass stirrup hilt, wooden grip, in its leather scabbard with brass locket. Blade 58cms, overall 72cms. Fair condition, grip covering and chape missing, some light rust to blade, well worn overall.
Good Scarce 1788 Pattern Cavalry Troopers Sword of the Sussex (or Surrey) Light Dragoons, regulation blade sharpened for field service and stamped with a Government inspector’s mark, a crowned 1, regulation iron hilt with langets, gripstrap deeply engraved with the rack number B/11 and initials S.L.D., leather covered wooden grip, in its steel scabbard with twin hanging bands and rings, the top deeply engraved with the rack number B/11 and the initials S.L.D. Blade 90cms, overall 103cms. Good untouched condition. The Sussex (or Surrey) Light Dragoons were a Fencible Cavalry unit.
^ Georgian Light Cavalry Officers Sword of 1796 Pattern Type, broad blade with single edge and single fuller etched with crowned GRIII (faint) and traces of other devices, gilt brass stirrup hilt retaining most original gilding, the pommel finely chiselled as a lion’s head, ivory grip carved with ridges, in its leather covered wooden scabbard with extensive gilt copper mounts retaining much of their original gilding. Blade 77cms, overall 89.7cms. Good untouched condition.
British 1796 Pattern Infantry Officers Sword, regulation blade etched with crowned GR (faint) royal arms and military trophies including a trumpet banner etched GR, back edge deeply stamped Osborn (maker), regulation gilt brass hilt retaining virtually all its original gilding, folding side guard, silver wire bound grip. Blade 81cms, overall 97cms. Good condition, some light pitting to blade.
Good Late Victorian 1821 Pattern Light Cavalry Officers Sword of the Ayrshire Yeomanry Cavalry by Henry Wilkinson, Pall Mall, London, No.35771, etched and polished with crowned royal cipher, royal arms, foliage and owner’s initials N.C.N., regulation triple bar guard, silver wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its steel scabbard with twin hanging rings. Blade 89cms, overall 104cms. Good clean condition. Wilkinsons ledger confirm this sword was built May 1898 for N.C.Neilson.
