A pencilled note indicates this copy belonged to George Whale, a lawyer friend of Wells, who became involved in the dissolution of the relationship between Wells and Rebecca West about 9 years after this was published.

Beveridge (William) Institutionum Chronologicarum....Arithmetices chronologicae libellis, second edition, contemporary ink signature of John Cope on title, light staining towards end, contemporary panelled calf, rubbed, corners worn, rebacked, small 4to, Samuel Rycroft, sold by William Kettilby, 1705.⁂ The first part deals with comparisons between the Julian and Gregorian calendars, calendars used by ancient civilizations and lunar and solar cycles; the second with how to perform basic arithmetical calculations using ancient numerical notations. At the time England still, belatedly, used the Julian system.
Strawberry Hill Press.- Whitworth (Charles, Lord) An Account of Russia as it was in the Year 1710, first edition, [one of 700 copies], engraved title vignette, errata leaf at end, some light browning, contemporary ink inscription "W Hawker, 1758" to front free endpaper, contemporary sprinkled calf, gilt, rubbed, joints cracked, spine label missing, [Hazen 5], 8vo, [Twickenham], Printed at Strawberry Hill, 1758.⁂ The 23 pp. 'Advertisement' at beginning is by Horace Walpole.

Seiko 'Slide Rule' calculator, chronograph automatic stainless steel wristwatch, No. 6138-7000 - Condition Report Ticking away, hour and minute hands move freely, push buttons are good springs work well - they click with a little resistance. The slider has scratches and some small losses but digests are readable. Dial is good luminosity is good in the hour markers and seconds hand. A few very very minor scratches to the glass (not very noticeable or detrimental). Case has some light scratches some dirt around the back case. Replacement strap broken.
