Rosemary Burn Phone On A Postcard Marker pens and watercolour on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Part of my intention is to make unusual the usual; the everyday visual experiences which we all encounter and mostly dismiss as unimportant, not worth a second glance. The works are crafted from moments; those snippets of time from which I can find a story in the background, such as a dripping bath tap and the light carried in the ripples, a fly on the wall, the fleeting expression on a face, a nameless place. For me, these happenings underpin our existence; big events, highs and lows, come and go but the insignificant and fleeting remain and repeat, like a constant hum in the background. The nature of each brushstroke, and the texture of the paint also play an important part in the translation of the seen, into a blurring between the representational and the semi abstract, the patterns which often escape our notice. I work every day searching for an alchemy between paint, subject and moment. When I studied at Chelsea School of Art, I was making sculpture, but the intention behind the work was similar. Works from those times include a bicycle abandoned on its side with its back wheel perpetually turning, so the scene of an accident was kept alive for an infinite length of time, a remote-controlled leg of lamb, a huge flying saucepan which had come to rest skewered by the sword of a swordfish held upright by a fisherman (both plaster casts). Although my life is a busy one with many commitments - I am also a classical pianist, (and I teach the piano and violin), not being creative in some way every day has never been possible for me. I love every minute! Kate Dunn Come, Come, Come Into My World, 2023 Acrylic, pigment, coloured pencil and pencil on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Verity Babbs About Kate Dunn makes paintings and environments about devotional practice and the artist's ownership of visual identity. This is felt in their grappling with the existential notion of vocational work, evidenced through repeated references to sacred spaces and Dunn's refusal of painterly categorisation. Personal experiences of dissociation and nihilism led to an inquiry around visual identity and repetitive artistic approach. This, in turn, birthed their most recent series, the collage works, in which the surface appears a fragmented montage of paintings, images and textures, but is in fact, all made of the same surface by the artist's hand. Selected solo shows include mid-morning in the scriptorium at TJ Boulting, London, Il Tabernacolo welcome to pharmakono at A+A Gallery, Venice, and SKIN OF LIGHT at SET Bermondsey, London. This series follows a process of multiplicity, meaning unlimited stylistic approaches are embraced within each piece. The emphasis is on expansion rather than limitation, the outcome of a recent revelation in which I attempted to bring many of my artistic identities to the fore. These works emphasise the concept of image, pattern, perspective and paint, all coexisting as texture on the surface. There is no clear focus, allowing the notion of figure and ground to remain in continuous flux. You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. Eleanor Lines Blue Sunset Screenprint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Eleanor is an English-Dutch artist born and raised in London. She graduated with a Masters in Fine Art Printmaking from the Royal College of Art in 2011. She now lives and works between Athens (Greece) and London. Geometry, pattern and structure found within architecture and foliage are all prevailing themes within her work which she explores through a variety of mediums such as screen printing, digital drawing, gouache paint, cyanotype and collage. In addition to her smaller scale practice, she undertakes large scale public commissions and has previously been commissioned by the Crown Estate and the Bow Arts Trust in London. After completing a residency in Greece in 2016, her practice was greatly inspired by the city of Athens and its modernist and Art Deco architecture. By isolating shapes found in, for instance, Art Deco metalwork, and reimaging these forms, she explores and deconstructs the fabric of the city. The strong Athenian light gives a sun kissed appearance to the place. The vivid sunset skies and surrounding Aegean Sea have all contributed to her vibrant colour palette, where colours and gradient blends interact with one another and create a sense of movement within the work. Education Royal College of Art, Fine Art Printmaking 2009 - 2011 University of Brighton, Fine Art Printmaking 2005 - 2008 Select Exhibitions/Awards March 2022 - IFCA Arts, Metanoia, Athens, Greece December 2021 - Kypselian Salon, Snehta, Athens, Greece November 2021 - Palm, Kypseli Print Studio, Athens, Greece November 2020 - Athens Laundry Bougada, Athens, Greece 2017 - Commissioned Public Art 'Q4' (Crown Estate/AHMM architects), Sherwood Street, London Gallery Representation The postcards submitted to 'Art on a Postcard' entitled 'Sunset' respond to a long heatwave during the Greek summer and deconstruct a previous print work which plays with the form of a wave. The dramatic skies at sunset displayed a spectrum of colours which varied evening to evening. Outbreaks of fire gave the skies a very unusual hue. The unique screen-printed postcards attempt to capture these colour fields in a simplified and abstract language. You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. David Micheaud Blue Buoy Oil on board Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About David Micheaud's practice is concerned with the act of looking. Seemingly mundane objects and landscapes are carefully observed over time. Overlooked details become central in paintings that capture the atmospheric tones of light and delicate shifts in colour of the environments that frame them. They appear to be born of a resistance to the typical pace of looking; a desire to slow down and delve deeper. A timeless point without interference from human touch. On this occasion though they are disrupted by the arrival of little nodes of plastic, different coloured buoys disrupting the quiet a human presence bobbing in the sea. Ken Nwadiogbu Red Dots Charcoal and acrylic on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Ken Nwadiogbu (b. 1994, Lagos, Nigeria) is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist, based in Lagos, Nigeria. A trained civil engineer, he soon pivoted to fine art, first embracing hyperrealism and charcoal drawing before expanding his creative horizon to more conceptual works and a wider array of techniques, including acrylic painting, sculpture and installation. His works are inspired by iconic American contemporary art figures such as J.-M. Basquiat, Kehinde Wiley, Toyin Ojih Odutola and Kerry James Marshall. On Ken's large canvases, stories superimpose themselves in multiple layers. Mixing together hyperrealism with contemporary elements, he creates ingenious, politically charged visual illusions that deploy a singular outlook, daring the audience to question their own, for "value lies in the perspective". Defending an art that can be at once smart and fun, he explores grave matters in intense colours and playful cut-outs, addressing altogether black representation and identity, displacement, and socio-political control. Popularly known as KenArt, Ken is credited for introducing the "Contemporealism" movement and was named by Guardian Life as one of the most "Outstanding Personalities" in Nigeria. In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious The Future Awards Africa in recognition of his contributions to the Nigerian arts community. A core focus for him is to inspire and encourage young creatives. He does this through public speaking and mentorship, as well as through his creative companies. He nurtures an art collective called 'Title Deed' and co-found Artists Connect NG, the largest artist gathering in Nigeria, created to foster creativity, collaboration and community. His works have been exhibited in a number of galleries including Omenka Gallery ('Insanity' group show, Lagos, 2016), Retro Africa ('In the making', Abuja, 2018), Bricklane Gallery ('Contemporealism', London, 2019), Bomb Factory Art Foundation ('Journey Mercies', London, 2021) and Thinkspace ('Ubuntu', LA, 2021). His works were showcased at ART X Lagos on several occasions, at 154 London, and Prizm Art Fair, in Miami. He has worked on multiple projects with respected international brands like Martell Cognac, McMillan Publishers, Flight Logistics, and many others. Ken enjoys expanding his perspective -and ours, rarely ever leaving anything to chance, but rather proceeding from a place of joy, and intentional care. He is constantly revitalizing his practice by challenging modes of Black representation. His oeuvres do not just encompass various forms of painting but most recently transcends into photography, sculpture, installation, NFT and video Education MA Painting, Royal College of Art Select Exhibitions/Awards Awards: 2019: The Future Awards Africa Prize for Art Exhibitions: 2022, SCOPE Art Fair Miami, 2020, Prizm International Art Fair Miami, 2020, 1-54 African Art Fair New York, Portrait of a Top boy and Summer exhibition Royal Academy Gallery Representation Retro Africa Gallery and Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery. Benjamin Portanier Zeal 1 Oil Paint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Frankie Shea About I am a London born Painter working on originals in oil. I have deep respect for paintings that speak to me in some sense traditionally and another sense mystically. Yes, I believe a great portrait is a mystery. It stands all tests of time and calls out to the soul. There should be more portraits on our walls. Loved ones, tough moments and the life behind our being are held with dignity through them. I hand paint faces that feature the unexaggerated natural posture that needs no over expressive veil. We wear masks everyday but no matter how thick the mask we wear, we are more so the cracks that appear, than the mask itself. A mystery I work on is how a portrait captures the mask whilst getting behind it simultaneously. More of the time the cracks appear over the eyes. I'd like to see what I can do to bring light to the portrait in our time. Brief moments of stillness hanging on our walls give us hope that all is well and there is more to come. - Benjamin Portanier Education BA/HONS Fine Art Painting - University of Brighton Select Exhibitions/Awards LSM Art Award finalist and exhibition 2021 Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork Zeal 1 & Zeal 2. Both paintings act as preliminary portraits of young people who are dear to me in my life. There is more to come from these small portraits working well to move toward another. Just as all our postcards have added up to create, as a whole a huge difference, there is zeal from few at first that then opens the path to make a difference to many. This zeal can be mistaken for self-reliance, but unwavering zeal acknowledges the help we need from others. May we celebrate gifts of zeal in life. Manon's practice is situated between the two worlds of painting and sculpture, able to create both wall-based works and free-standing abstract sculptures. With a strong background in fashion as well as art, the artist pays homage to both traditional and non-traditional mediums throughout her practice. Using a layer of painted canvas and a layer of hand poured semi-transparent silicone to drape around the canvas, creating a work which is neither a painting nor a sculpture, but a work that lies slightly in-between. The lightly coloured silicone adds a delicate layer of colour, almost a haze on top of the painting. Phoebe Evans Ambivalence Oil paint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Millie Foster About Phoebe Evans (b.2000) is a London based artist, her practise utilises magic realism to draw on the process of the sublime and the liminal of everyday. Harmonizing colour and exploring perspective, the environments become a fantasy of reality. Saturated monochromes are used to reimagine vivid dreamscapes. These invite an audience to view the fragments of space and time through a tinted lens. Phoebe's practise is a vessel for translating the subconscious space, taking an uncertain and intangible place into an array of surrealist rooms. Portals are created through doors and windows. They are familiar yet distant, allowing you to place and lose yourself within the work. Tone and light enrich the atmosphere. Estelle Vera Ocean View VII Oil on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Estelle Vera lives by the sea in Deal. Born in the countryside of Switzerland, she probably fell in love with nature with her first cry. She has always enjoyed the freedom of strolling through the woods, climbing trees, lying in the grass and dreaming into the clouds. It has certainly made a strong impact on her journey. After five years of study at the Lucerne School of Art and Design, she was drawn without hesitation to Italy, where she continued studying painting at the Art Academy of Bologna. In the last decade, she discovered very surprisingly her love for still life painting and a parallel journey took its way. At the beginning she enjoyed the playful approach to the overwhelming abundance of colours, perspectives and patterns. The move to the coast of South England brought new inspirations and the conversation deepened. The subtle colours, the sensitive light and the beauty and fragility of the objects found on her walks along the beaches became once more a dive into silence. As an honouring of simplicity and in a slow process paintings emerge filled with great wonder. This lot has been curated by AOAP About Jane Bustin, born 1964, London, studied at Portsmouth University and lives and works in London, her practice spans three decades of single works in painting and ceramic as well as installation, text, film and performance. The paintings are made as sequential, monochrome abstract works, executed in a variety of mediums and surfaces. They explore the metaphysical potential for painting to 'make visual' philosophical concepts found primarily in modernist literature, feminism, theology as well as music and dance. The work is usually project based and can incorporate paintings, ceramic objects, text and live performance. The works influences come from 14th century frescos, 17th century painting, Belle epoque iconography, modernist literature, Nineteenth century poetry, women artists, 70's feminist movement, Japanese ceramics, fabrics, books, hardware stores, neon signs, cosmetics, sweet wrappers... Taya De La Cruz Hope is a waking dream Ink and pencil on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Verity Babbs About Taya De La Cruz uses detailed, minuscule handwriting as a way of methodically distilling chaos into order. She invites the viewer to move closer to the work and uncover the layers of narrative. The concept of the written word is expanded and redefined by its intention, which is not necessarily legibility, but representation as a form of its own. Taya's work is thematically centred around the human brain, and how we respond to life's challenging events. She is particularly inspired by the psychology of overcoming hardship, and mindset required for elite performance. She focuses on finding light in the dark; difficult circumstances are made approachable and even beautiful. Her art encourages introspection and re-evaluation. Taya's artistic approach serves as an antidote to the modern expectations of pace, achievement and results. Each labour-intensive piece visually articulates the considerable amount of time taken to create it, and reinforces the message of slowing down and being present. The ultimate relationship with time. She created a new technique of painting, using medical-grade syringes and needles, which allow her to work with paint on a microscopic level. Taya is a half-Spanish, half-Indian Londoner who was raised in sleepy southern Spain and educated in Gibraltar. She trained as an actress, and expanded her discipline into visual art. Benjamin Portanier Zeal 2 Oil paint and acrylic on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Frankie Shea About I am a London born Painter working on originals in oil. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork "The Night-Wanderer expresses the longing to return to the place where I grew up, the bitter, salty wind smell of the sea, an imaginary return to the North-Sea of my childhood. This print is set in between the Lighthouse and the Kurhuis in Scheveningen, a make-believe place where I would wander in the night, looking for something, anything away from the restrictions of reality. The Kurhuis and the lighthouse are in fact not that close together, but both buildings are a signifier of place for me, the lighthouse whose light sweeps were visible through the curtains of our childhood bedroom and the Kurhuis, the 'palace' at the boulevard, a place of great magic, opulence, lights and music, a famous landmark." Eleanor Lines Pink Sunset Screenprint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Eleanor is an English-Dutch artist born and raised in London. Jonathan Parker Woods (Four) Watercolour, ink and gouache on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Jonathan Parker is a painter known for his portraits and figurative compositions that often combine landscape, figure and interior. His work highlights the fragility of the environments depicted. Key points in time are recorded with closely observed / loosely executed techniques for capturing light and absorbing memory. Subtle emotional triggers are found within each piece and the use of layering leaves the viewer with more to be discovered over time. The significance of the sources of inspiration is left open, posing questions to be addressed, about how we see and how we feel. The answers are apprehended both as processes and things. They probably won't last more than a couple of days, depending on the climate, so painting them becomes an essential act in a way. Recording something fleeting and fragile is such an important gift of painting, making it possible to return to that moment. Such a return can have even greater symbolism if the thing or place being re-visited is familiar from childhood with questions of innocence, wisdom, freshness and value potentially raised. "Woods(Four)" is based on a view in Northumberland, near the grand country house of Wallington - a place of unrestricted adventure and timeless imagination - where an exploration of how we experience time continues. Marco Bizzarri Still Standing, Studio I Watercolour and acrylic on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Marco Bizzarri (b. 1988, Santiago) is a Chilean artist based in West Sussex, England. Marco deals with memory, commemoration and archive through painting, installation and video. In his work, research processes and materiality are subordinated to context. On the one hand, linked to the experiential encounter, and on the other, to the geographical positioning (rural-industrial territories), so that fieldwork, involvement with the landscape and human testimony are fundamental. Gallery Representation Galeria Patricia Ready (Chile) Statement About AOAP Submitted Artwork His paintings respond to the exercise of collecting and translating images by delving into the material possibilities of pictorial language. The result combines abstraction and figuration: the images show the multiple resources with which they have been constructed. By rescuing objects, events, people or places - which run the risk of being forgotten - the artist composes situations that link different spaces, times and actors in a single image. An exercise that responds to the need to give visibility to those fleeting things coming from an autobiographical context that shows events of the artist's daily life. His painting reveals as much as it conceals. The gesture of covering the form, through dripping, reveals itself as a means of silencing his images and at the same time charging them with a singular graphic and chromatic expression where light and darkness coexist on the same plane You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. Laura Hope Eye Spy III, 2023 Mixed media on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Verity Babbs About My work is centred around unspoken emotions and quiet inner lives. Created from my own staged photographs of models, it is often a response to memories, relationships and personal crisis. Through composition, cropping and reversing the image, I strive to convey an uneasy narrative that shines a light on subtle feelings that often hide in the shadows. With hints to another era, my figures live in a world that is both nostalgic and present. I sit on the fence between painting and drawing - feeling that 'painting' better describes my process but knowing that 'drawing' is my method of creation. My training as an illustrator as well as my time working as a memorial artist (hand etching onto granite) have cemented the importance of line and mark making in my practice. A combination of thick, harsh scribbles and precise, light touches alongside a unique translation of colour are the voices used to tell my stories. Looking through a crack in a door or spying through a keyhole was something I wanted to explore with these tiny works. The scale is much smaller than I usually work, so I decided to work to a crop rather than reducing the image. Crops fascinate me, especially in portraiture... Without all the features, can you still translate their expression? How are you being watched? Is it a menacing stare or a loving gaze? Taya De La Cruz Hope is being able to see that there is light, despite all the darkness Ink and pencil on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Verity Babbs About Taya De La Cruz uses detailed, minuscule handwriting as a way of methodically distilling chaos into order. Select Exhibitions/Awards 2023 Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork I wanted to lean heavily on the theme of "hope" for these pieces. Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork My work is inspired by life around me, my experiences and memories. With a sense of the bittersweet passing of time, I am drawn to the moment day turns to night under a bright moon. The light changes dramatically and tells us that another day has passed. Working across acrylics, oils, watercolour and gouache, observational drawing forms a large part of my practice and I use carefully composed photographs as further resource material. Harriet Porter Little Blessing Oil on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Harriet Porter is a London-based artist specialising in still-life oil painting, making quiet monochromatic works of solitary reflective objects. "I paint from observation, concerned with finding patterns of tone within the whole scene, focusing on the glints of light set off by shapes of shadow. I use layers of translucent glaze to build up the feeling of luminosity. The space I create is a world where nothing bad ever happens: a sparse dreamy place filled with a still, tranquil glow". Harriet's preoccupation is informed by her previous career as an art director and stylist. Working in film and photography, she found the camera increasingly frustrating. As a capturing device it became insufficient to describe the wonder with which she perceived the shimmer that constantly caught her eye. She found that painting achieved more accurate results, bypassing unwelcome photographic detail. This lot has been curated by AOAP About Marco Bizzarri (b. Rana Begum WP 613 Spraypaint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Born in Bangladesh in 1977, Rana Begum lives and works in London. Rana's artwork distils spatial and visual experience into ordered form. Through her refined language of Minimalist abstraction, Rana blurs the boundaries between sculpture, painting and architecture. Her visual language draws from the urban landscape as well as geometric patterns from traditional Islamic art and architecture. Light is fundamental to her process. Rana's works absorb and reflect varied densities of light to produce an experience for the viewer that is both temporal and sensorial. Education In 1999, Rana graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design and, in 2002, gained an MFA in Painting from Slade School of Fine Art. Select Exhibitions/Awards Rana has received the Jack Goldhill Award for Sculpture (2012) and Abraaj Group Art Prize (2017). Rana was elected an RA in 2019. Gallery Representation Kate MacGarry Gallery London Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork These postcards grew from an ongoing series of spray paintings Rana Begum has been developing over several years. Michelle Maddox Two Cups White Oil on gessoed paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Michelle Maddox was born in Cambridge, England in 1968 of Swiss/British parentage. She has a Master of Art in Fine Art (Distinction) from UCA England, a BA in the History of Art from Birkbeck, University of London, a Higher Diploma in Graphic Design from the University of Lincoln, A Certificate of Advanced studies in Artistic development from the University of the Arts in Zurich Switzerland where she is currently living with her family. Her work has been mainly preoccupied with the ordinary object within the Still Life genre, specifically the disregarded or the mundane where she aims to enhance its potential through her favoured medium of oil paint. Recently she has started the postgraduate online drawing development year at the Royal drawing school London She has exhibited nationally and internationally, and recent exhibitions include the Royal Academy Summer exhibition in London in 2020 and 2023 and Hampstead Art Society Annual exhibition 2022 and 2023. Her work is in private collections in Switzerland, England, France, Luxembourg, Holland, Sweden, Australia, The British Virgin Islands and Canada. Education MA Fine Art UCA, Postgraduate drawing year Royal drawing school, BA History of Art Birkbeck University of London. Select Exhibitions/Awards Royal Academy Summer exhibition 2020, 2023, Hampstead art society 2021, 2022 Gallery Representation Python Gallery Kirchgasse, 8001 Zurich Switzerland Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork The painting as an object is more important than the initial subject, although the ordinary object has always fascinated Michelle - she is not necessarily looking for the most beautiful subject, but rather a subject which allows for the use of nuanced colour and light to create a harmonious image. After reading such authors as George Perec about their observations of the everyday as opposed to the sensational which we are bombarded with in the media, she began a deep visual study of the ordinary. Her recent still lifes are about looking at the everyday object beyond its daily role and seeing it as shapes and colours. Her paintings are often seen as quiet and calm, which is not necessarily done consciously, but she tends to choose harmonious palettes and compositions. Phoebe Evans Enigma Oil paint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Millie Foster About Phoebe Evans (b.2000) is a London based artist, her practise utilises magic realism to draw on the process of the sublime and the liminal of everyday. Sophie Vallance Cantor Tiger Collage, 2023 Oil and collage on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Ell Pennick About Throughout her practice, Sophie Vallance Cantor creates worlds that express the inner workings of her mind by blurring the line between reality and imagination. Her paintings offer a unique perspective as they invite viewers to see the world through her eyes: where bright neon signs light up dark alleyways and domestic cats transform into wild beasts in 24 hour bars and cafés. Each painting reads like a still from a film; characters look at the viewer with a sense of cool detachment as they ride motorcycles down an infinite highway or smoke cigarettes and blow smoke while nursing a cocktail. Amidst the narrative of her paintings there often lies a sense of stillness, with each small moment immortalised and savoured through thick, luscious strokes of oil paint that exude a palpable sense of joy and pleasure in the creation process. Sophie's figures are depicted with strong, bold shapes and her use of vivid colours invites the viewer to relish in the pleasures of her practice. There is a certain sense of playfulness and mischievous delight that permeates all of Sophie's work. In a broader context, Sophie's art serves as a counterbalance to her experiences as a neurodivergent individual, with her self-portraits constantly evolving and conversing with each other on the canvas. Although viewers are welcomed into her world, they are still kept at arm's length, like outsiders looking in on a private moment. There's so much beauty around us, both the big views and the details, I'm in awe of it. I try to capture the mood, the wonder, the feeling of being there, the elements perhaps less visible with a passing glance. I have always loved design and creating things, and sometimes work collaboratively to solve a design brief for artwork specific to a project. Mostly though I work alone inspired by the beauty in nature, often with my own creative enquires: How to express the rain? Or the wind as it blows sand along a sea drenched beach... as it makes botanical shadows dance on a wall. How to express the movement of a wave or the still timeless eternity of a mountain... there's inspiration everywhere. Sophie Coe was born in the UK in 1971. She studied fine art and architecture and worked in the UK, Asia and Australia, before settling in London in 2009. Fine art was always a passion which over the years grew to take over as a full-time occupation. Sophie studied fine art at the Slade in London but is largely self-taught. She works with charcoal, paint and various printmaking techniques to create images mostly inspired by nature. The freedom in her mark making gives immediacy and energy to her work, which itself exudes the simple calmness and beauty of the environment that inspired it. Having a background in architecture gives her an in-depth understanding of buildings, interiors, client/designer relationships and collaborative design. Commissioned pieces have ranged in scale from 60cm to 6.5m wide. Her work sells worldwide for both private collections and commercial interiors. She lives and works in Twickenham. Rana Begum WP 612 Spraypaint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Born in Bangladesh in 1977, Rana Begum lives and works in London. Initially inspired by the paper used to test spray cans in the studio, the paintings contribute to Begum's continued exploration into transparency, colour interaction and repetition. Michelle Maddox Billy Button in a Cup 2 Oil on gessoed paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Michelle Maddox was born in Cambridge, England in 1968 of Swiss/British parentage. You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardise the charitable work we do.

Marie Lenclos Light Oil on card Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Marie Lenclos is a Paris born painter living and working in South-London since 1995. Marie is developing a recognised body of work based on the observation of urban landscapes and buildings close to her home and studio in Loughborough Junction. Lenclos was a documentary video maker for around 12 years. This made her very conscious of the way she looked at the city around her. She got used to 'framing' things all the time, even without a camera. Walking around she would suddenly see something and think: 'this would make a good shot'. Since becoming a painter, she sees something and thinks: 'there is a painting in this'. Her paintings capture a 'moment of seeing', when lines, light, colours and shapes all fall into a particular order that suddenly makes sense to her. Reality is simplified, and perspectives become her own. Her main focus is colour, which she aims to make vibrant and emotional through gradients and the use of light. Harriet Porter Small Mirage Oil on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Harriet Porter is a London-based artist specialising in still-life oil painting, making quiet monochromatic works of solitary reflective objects. Cathy's work collides imaginary forms with existing landscapes through the use of both architectural and botanical elements. Her compositions incorporate a hint of surrealism, as to alter presumed proportion, and a saturated colour palette to punctuate the contrast between shadow and light. Tabbakh's still-lifes show her desire to surround herself with green spaces combined with her love for architecture and interior design. She recently introduced ceramics into her practise, reflecting the colourful and bold style of her still-lifes. Laura Hope Eye Spy II, 2023 Mixed media on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by Verity Babbs About My work is centred around unspoken emotions and quiet inner lives. Eleanor Lines Red Sunset I Screenprint on paper Signed on Verso 10 x 15cm (3¾ x 5¾ in.) This lot has been curated by AOAP About Eleanor is an English-Dutch artist born and raised in London.
