The image for the program is identical to that of the image for the poster created by Haring (with the exception of the background color) at the request of the concert promoter Bill Graham. Graham revisited his old Bronx neighborhood in August of 1986 and, appalled to see that drugs had effectively wiped out the local culture, foresaw a menacing problem in the crack craze. He teamed with David Maldonado to stage a Crack Benefit in the city, but scaled back plans several times since few shared his apprehension. Ultimately, two concerts were held, one at Madison Square Garden on October 31st and the other, an all-Latin show at the Felt Forum, the following night. Much like theatrical playbills, programs have been used at concerts for decades. With information on bands and their members, it gives the concertgoer a chance to get to know the musicians they will soon see live. The program offered here is from the performance at the Felt Forum on November 1st, which featured Santana, Ruben Blades y Seis del Solar, Willie Colon, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, and Bobby Rodriguez y la Nueva Compania. Quinto acquired a number of drawings from Basquiat, Haring, and Warhol as well as other Pop, Graffiti, and Contemporary artists, directly from the artists in the 1970’s – 80’s. In 1956, in addition to all the work Warhol was getting drawing shoes and bags, he was commissioned to design Christmas cards for Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Warhol's cards were then published by Tiffany's every Christmas up to 1962, the year he started to exhibit his paintings of soup cans. Our example offered here is from the original first printing in 1960. The cards were subsequently reprinted in a slightly larger size in 1980. The most recent sale price we found of a card, unsigned and without the envelope, was $3,000 at Christie's New York, December 1st, 2014, lot #62. In 1956, in addition to all the work Warhol was getting drawing shoes and bags, he was commissioned to design Christmas cards for Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue in New York City. Warhol's cards were then published by Tiffany's every Christmas up to 1962, the year he started to exhibit his paintings of soup cans. Our example offered here is from the original first printing in 1960. The cards were subsequently reprinted in a slightly larger size in 1980. Comment(s): "'Something crawled across my foot in the darkroom and I let out a yell and turned on the light." Thus began Lee Miller, Man Ray's artistic collaborator and lover, in a 1975 interview recalling her version of how the two artists discovered the solarization process. Miller continued, "I never did find out what it was, a mouse or what. Then I quickly realized that the film was totally exposed: there in the development tank, ready to be taken out, were a dozen practically fully-developed negatives of a nude against a black background . . . Man Ray grabbed them, put them in the hypo, and looked at them later. The background and the image couldn't heal together, so there was a line left which he called 'solarization.'" While working with Miller, Man Ray made numerous photographs exploring the effects of tone reversal in solarization. Issued for the December 3, 1983, opening night exhibition of "Andy Warhol: Portraits of Ingrid Bergman" at Galerie Borjeson, Malmo, Sweden. Apparently there were very small quantities of this lithograph (our example) printed for distribution on opening night and they went quickly. Fontana betrachtete diese Serie als den Höhepunkt seiner "Raumkonzepte" im Rahmen seines theoretischen Ansatzes des "Realistischen Spacialismus". 4 coloured serigraphs with perforations and collaged in: Fontana. Editorial Gustavo Gili, S.A. und Galeria Rene Metras, Barcelona. - Ausgehend von dem Manifesto dello Spazialismo (Manifest des Spatialismus) postulierte Lucio Fontana 1947 eine gänzlich neue künstlerische Darstellungsform des Raumes. Fontana benutzte Buchi (Löcher) und ab Mitte der 1950er-Jahre Tagli (Schnitte) um auf diese Weise die vorherrschenden Darstellungskonvention infrage zu stellen, bei der Materialien oder Substanzen zur Erzeugung eines visuellen Effekts auf eine Oberfläche aufgetragen werden. Fontanas Praxis ist dabei nicht als gewaltsamer Akt zu verstehen, sondern weist auf den Willen des Künstlers, den Raum hinter der Bildfläche zu entdecken. Entscheidend an seiner Kunstauffassung ist dabei nicht das trennende, sondern verbindende Element: der neue imaginäre Raum, der durch die zerschnitte Fläche empor kommt, soll mit dem realen Raum zu einem Raumgebilde vereint werden.
