DJ2054X The Ariel Red Hunter was the name given by Ariel to its range of single cylinder motorcycles and the model was initially designed in 1932 as a 500cc ‘sports’ version. However 250 and 350cc versions were developed and became popular with grass track and trials riders. All Red Hunters had distinctive dark red petrol and oil tanks and were an immediate success with the buying public, forming the backbone of the company. This machine has received a full restoration in recent years to a very high standard and forms part of a private collection of motorcycles coming to the market for the first time in many years. F7.38673 The Norton ‘Big Four’ was the big 4-stroke workhorse of the Norton range with ample pulling power and the model was a solid, reliable and economical machine to run. The model is made between 1907 and 1954 in various forms. It was the largest and most powerful side valve engine and due to its low end torque, it was mostly used to haul sidecars. The model also played a role during the early years of WWII, before being replaced by the more versatile Willys Jeep. This machine is in first class condition having had a complete overhaul, although light re-commissioning may be required. It is sold with a new V5c and an old style green log book. -Click here to bid - 1952 BSA ‘Gold Star’ 350cc Reg.no. MNY 25 Frame no. ZB32S4016 Engine no. ZB32GS4016 The BSA Gold Star was made by BSA from 1938 until 1963 in 350cc and 500cc forms. This single-cylinder four-stroke production motorcycle was known for being amongst the fastest bikes of the 1950s. Being hand built and with many optional performance modifications available, each motorcycle came from the factory with documented dynamometer test results, allowing the new owner to see the horsepower produced. This early rear plunger model is in excellent condition and is sold as part of a deceased estate, so may require light re-commissioning. It is sold with a new V5c and a selection of old MOTs. -Click here to bid - 1954 Norton ‘Dominator’ 88 Reg.no. KBL 113 Frame no. J122.58717 Engine no. 63829K12 Introduced in 1952, the Dominator 88 resulted from marrying the ‘model 7’ engine with a featherbed frame, which had swept virtually all before it when combined with the ‘Manx’ engine. The new model was capable of just over 90mph and offered exemplary handling, which became the benchmark by which other motorcycles would be judged. This machine has undergone a total nut and bolt restoration as the history file will show. Light re-commissioning may be required following a short period of storage. -Click here to bid - 1958 BSA ‘Shooting Star’ 500cc Reg.no. SET 256 Frame no. EA7 12790 Engine no. CA7SS4035 Although the BSA Shooting Star was introduced in 1954, it was essentially a development and name change of the A7 model, which had already been re-designated ‘Star Twin’. The Shooting Star was given a new swinging arm and its engine was developed to give a top speed of just under 90mph. This motorcycle is in excellent restored condition and is coming to the market as part of a desirable collection of British motorcycles. It may require light re-commissioning prior to use and it is sold with an old log book and a V5c. Estimate: £4,500 – 5,500No Reserve

-Click here to bid - 1955 BSA B33 500cc Reg.no. USY 940 Frame no. CB318309 Engine no. BB335663 A development of the 350cc B31, the 500cc B33 was manufactured from 1947 to 1960. The engine closely followed B31 lines, but with a larger bore and heavier flywheels. Produced initially with rigid frame and telescopic forks, the B33 was available from 1949 with optional plunger rear suspension and switched to a swinging-arm frame, along with the rest of the range, in 1954. A good, solid, all-round performer by the standards of its day, the B33 could top 80mph, cruise comfortably all day at 70mph and return in excess of 70mpg. This example is in excellent restored condition but may require some light re-commissioning before use, following a short period of storage. It is sold with a new V5c and a selection of old MOTs. E/E2280J The New Imperial marque was established in 1900 when Norman Downs acquired a cycle company in Birmingham, which he reorganised as New Imperial Cycles. The firm didn’t have any success until they launched a conventional Jap powered model in 1910 – the Light Tourist, and this new model proved an outstanding success. The New Imperial we offer here has been recently overhauled, a restoration that included the engine, the gearbox, the clutch and the rear wheel bearings. The motorcycle has also been fitted with gas lighting. In about 2003, this New Imperial was re-registered, having been in single ownership since the 1960s. This motorcycle is now in good all round condition, having been mechanically restored. There is a selection of bills available in addition to an old style log book and a V5c. Estimate: £3,000 – 4,000

Unknown The Caterham 7 is a direct evolution of the Series 3 Lotus Seven designed by Colin Chapman and was originally launched in 1973. As with its Lotus Seven precursors, Caterhams are constructed of aluminium sheet attached to a tubular steel chassis. Their extremely high performance is achieved through light weight, rather than particularly powerful engines. As well as a lightweight chassis and bodywork, Caterham Sevens achieve their very low mass through their lack of comfort and the model is therefore recognised by driving enthusiasts for its focus on driving enjoyment, making it an ideal track/race car. This example is from a deceased estate and forms part of a collection of motor cars found recently in a series of lock-up garages in Basingstoke. The late owner was clearly in the process of some remedial works to the engine, having removed the carburettors and spark plugs, so the condition of the engine is unknown, but we are told that this car was used for hill climbing in recent years. Mr Churchill. 1940", 26 cm long CONDITION REPORTS Both with light general wear and scuffs, some slight rubbing to the aircraft, but overall in reasonably good condition.

Two Chinese polychrome decorated rice bowls, one decorated with dragon amongst foliage, the other with lilies, both raised on circular feet, bearing pseudo Yong Zheng marks, 14.1 cm diameter, together with a Chinese sang de boeuf glazed rice bowl, 13.5 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS All with some light wear and scuffs, some roughness to top edge of rims, one of the polychrome decorated bowls with some scuffs/blemishes to decoration to base of interior, some uneven-ness to foot rims, sang de boeuf bowl with some scuffs and irregularities to foot rim, all generally appear sound, age not known.

A 19th Century Continental pottery table lamp, the pale green ground decorated in gilt with chinoiserie, raised on stylised bird and paw feet, 35 cm high excluding light fitting CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear, scuffs and scratches, feet to base are loose and wobbly and one foot broken off and has various old glue remnants where it has previously been repaired, quite a few chips and losses around this area also to the ceramic, appears to have been previous alterations to one of the feet with extra washers added and various deteriorated rubber blocks, etc., lamp is not wired up, some knocks and chips throughout, some flaking to decoration and rubbing and scuffs to decoration, tarnish to fitments.

A William IV silver elongated oval lidded box with engine turned decoration and lion and castle motif within a medallion, opening to reveal a gilt washed interior (by Thomas Johnson, London 1834), 0.91 oz CONDITION REPORTS Length approx. 7.5 cm, width approx. 1.5 cm. Gilt wash is to the interior only, overall with some light wear and a few minor knocks and dents to edges, lid is a good snug fit, and overall condition appears reasonably tidy.

An Essex crystal fox mask stick pin in circular gilt mount CONDITION REPORTS Total length approx. 8.5 cm including pin, diameter of top section approx. 1.5 cm. Pin is quite dented and mis-shapen, fox decoration generally appears in quite good condition with just some light general wear and scuffs.

A Chinese Canton carved ivory visiting card case, carved on both sides with figures, foliage and pagodas, 11 cm x 7.5 cm CONDITION REPORTS Some slight yellowing, light general wear and scuffs but overall condition appears to be good, there are some black marks to the interior lip (see photos).

EDGAR BUNDY (1862-1922) "The Intruder", interior study of figures in 17th century dress, watercolour heightened with white and body colour, signed bottom right, 48 cm x 65 cm CONDITION REPORTS Some light general wear and scuffs, but painting overall appears in reasonably good order. Frame has various chips and losses. The back of the frame is covered with MDF and edges have been resealed.

KENNETH WEBB RWA FRSA (b. 1927) "Farm buildings, Ireland", oil on board, signed bottom right, 50.5 cm x 23 cm (ARR) CONDITION REPORTS Appears to be in original frame, bears label verso (please see photo), frame has minor knocks, bumps and some slight fading from general light, painting itself is slightly dirty and would benefit from a clean, otherwise appears OK. The auctioneer spoke to the artist, Kenneth Webb, in person on 27.2.14 to check the painting's authenticity, and Kenneth Webb has verbally confirmed that this is his work.

Rug does not appear to have much age.
