The FL23883 inscription to the side of the case identifies the watch as one designed for navigation, and, as these watches were property of the Luftwaffe and not the individual pilots or navigators, they each had to return their watches after completing their service, enhancing their collectability today. The watches were fitted with extra long straps so they could be worn over a flight jacket and the oversized crown could be operated with gloves on and would be able to stop the centre seconds for precise time setting.Additional InformationPlease refer to the additional photographs for close-up details, but the watch is certainly ticking when wound.
