Fores, 1829, etching with contemporary hand colouring, 250 x 375 mm, plus, Ab - n - hy and the Barrister, published Thomas McLean, circa 1830, etching with contemporary hand colouring, trimmed to neatline, 245 x 350 mm, with another approximately forty etchings and engravings, various sizes and condition (approx.44)

*Strack (Anton Wilhelm, 1758-1829). La Nouvelle Coalition ou les Russes en marche depuis Sept ans, circa 1799, etching with contemporary hand colouring, old folds, laid on later card, 365 x 500 mm, mounted A scatalogical caricature relating to the Second Congress of Rastatt, which began its deliberations in November 1797, The congress was intended to negotiate a general peace between the French Republic and the Holy Roman Empire, and to draw up a compensation plan to compensate those princes whose lands on the left bank of the Rhine had been seized by France in the War of the First Coalition. The congress was interrupted when Austria and Russia resumed war against France in March 1799 at the start of the War of the Second Coalition, thus rendering the proceedings moot. Furthermore, as the French delegates attempted to return home, they were attacked by Austrian cavalrymen or possibly French royalists masquerading as such. Scarce. We can find no auction records for this caricature. (1)

*Woodward (George Moutard). The Genius of Caricature and his friends celebrating the completion of the second volume of the Caricature Magazine in the Temple of Mirth, published Thomas Tegg, July 2nd, 1808, etching with contemporary hand colouring, trimmed to neatline, 230 x 335 mm Shows a group of five men and three women seated around a table in the Apollo library. Numerous caricatures decorate the walls. The central character is belived to be Thomas Tegg, the man on the right raising his glass is possible Woodward, the man with his back to the viewer engaged in conversation with the woman on his left bears a resemblance to Isaac Cruikshank and the man of the left with the 'drinker's nose' is possibly Thomas Rowlandson. (1)

The Art of Painting in Oil, Rendered Familiar to Every Capacity: extracted from the Works of the Most Eminent Masters of the Italian, Fleming, and English Schools: to which is prefixed the Method of Mixing the Colours to the Various Teints used both for Portraints, Landscapes, etc., etc., etc., by the Author of the Art of Drawing in Perspective, 1st edition, London, Robert Laurie and James Whittle, 1798, original marbled paper wrappers, publisher's printed paper labels to front wrapper recto and verso, slightly rubbed overall, small stain to head of front wrapper and first few leaves of text, 8vo in half sheets, together with Salmon (William), Polygraphice: or the Arts of Drawing, Engraving, Etching, Limning, Painting, Washing, Varnishing, Gilding, Colouring, Dying, Beautifying and Perfuming ... fifth Edition: enlarged with above a thousand considerable Additions. Adorned with XXV. Copper Sculptures; the like never yet extant, London, 1685, engraved frontispiece and additional title page, 21 engraved plates (of 23, lacking numbers 4 and 23), near-contemporary ownership inscriptions to frontispiece, title and rear pastedown, foxing and browning, frontispiece chipped and creased, contemporary paint daubs to blank verso of last leaf, contemporary panelled calf, worn, front board detached, rear board held by top two cords, the leather lifting, 8vo Three copies only of The Art of Painting in Oil traced in libraries (Rijksmuseum, Penn. State, and the V & A); judging from Laurie's advertisement in the sixth edition of The Painter's Edition there was a tenth edition by 1823 and the main authority for the work was Thomas Bardwell. RAF 1930’s Armoured Cars / Westland Wapiti Aircraft Decorated Cigarette Case. This unmarked silver metal cigarette case is decorated with an etched image of a Westland Wapiti (J9090) in Flight. The reverse is etched with a RAF Crest, Armoured Car and Iraq. Also with the initials “EB”. Etching is clear. ... Accompanied by an RAF Officer’s ID “Dog Tag” “L. BERESFORD OFFR C.E. 58919 RAF”. (2 items) Flight Lieutenant L. Beresford was promoted to the rank of Flying Officer in 1949 and is possibly the son of the original owner of the case.

Edwardian Northamptonshire Yeomanry Heavy Cavalry Pattern Sword. A scarce example of the regulation heavy cavalry pattern. The blade etched with a reverse entwined ER cypher and a Regimental device. The forte with the cutler’s details of “Hamburger Rogers & Co.” The hilt of the regulation pattern. Housed in steel scabbard with two loose rings. Etching to the blade is clear. Hilt and scabbard with some storage wear.

William IV 1822 Pattern Officer’s Piped Back Bladed Officer’s Sword. A good period example, the piped back blade with etched panel with Crowned WIVR cypher. This device is repeated to the regulation pattern gilt metal hilt. Black shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in black leather and gilt mounted scabbard. Etching to the blade is clear, blade with some staining. Gilt possibly professionally restored. Near VGC.
