Für seinen fünften und letzten Versuch wählte er ein großes Querformat. Die weite Landschaft ist mit perspektivischer Klarheit bis in die Tiefe detailliert durchgestaltet und ist vor allem eine eindrucksvolle Landschaftsdarstellung. Das fränkische Dorf im Tal, auf das der Blick von einer Anhöhe hinüber fällt, wurde neuerdings vom Leiter der Wiener Albertina, Christof Metzger, als Eschenau (heute ein Ortsteil von Eckental) identifiziert.
