A cased set of etching tools purported to have been owned by Thomas Bewick (1753 - 1828), including a handwritten note 'I bought this box of wood engravers tools at the sale of John Hancock’s effects after his death. There was some tradition that they had belonged to Thomas Bewick the wood engraver.
