Knife: American Bowie knife. Blade 6" and etched 'The United States Land of the Free and Home of the Brave protected by her Noble and Brave Volunteers'. American Eagle underneath 'Ready to Defend' '.....and nothing but wishes and to submit to nothing'. Etching faint in places. Nickel silver (?) & Mother of Pearl grips with early American Eagle relief. In its leather scabbard with a red scorpion carved in relief. Frog stud on nickel locket and chape. A nice item worthy of further research. Scarce
Sword: An 1821 Pattern Artillery Officers Sword to the Hampshire Artillery. Blade 32.5" etched with makers name 'C. Webb 23 Old Bond Street London' with 'Hampshire Artillery'. In its steel scabbard (one crease and some small dents). Wirebound fishskin grip (minor losses to fishskin). Blade etching includes Victoria's Crown. Overall good condition with some wear.
AN ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS DIRK. A high quality 19thC A & Sutherland Highlanders officers dirk , with silvered mounts and etched blade. The ornate mounts to the scabbard throat and knife and fork fittings, bear the Boars Head and Sans Peur, Ne Oblivis Caris. Dark brown leather on the scabbard, with both knife and fork present, the latter lacking its spring clip. The blade of exceptional etching details, Crowns surmounting the Boars Head on one side, Sans Peur below the Wild Cat. Of some 12" length with dual fullers, being exceptionally clean with very little staining present. See Illustration
