WW1 Imperial German Model 1889 Trooper’s Private Purchase Cavalry Sword.A good example with etched decoration to the blade. This includes the Imperial Eagle and Thropies of War. The hilt is of the regulation pattern incorporating an Imperial Eagle. Complete with original scabbard this being post 1906 with a single fixed loop. Etching to the blade clear slight age wear.
William IV General Officer’s 1831 pattern Mameluke hilted swordA rare early example by Widdowson & Veale 73 Strand, London (details to the forte). The blade is etched with Crowned WIVR Cypher, General Officer’s device and floral decoration. Gilt cross guard with floral decoration with General Officer’s device to the centre. Two piece Ivorine grip with two floral head gilt studs. Housed in black leather and gilt mounted scabbard, the top mount with the cutler’s details. Overall condition is good, etching to blade clear, some gilt dulling.
Scottish. 93rd Sutherland Highlanders Victorian pre 1881 Officer’s broadsword.A good scarce possibly fighting example, the straight doubled edged, double fuller blade with etched decoration of a crowned VR cypher, also the regimental title ‘93rd SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS’ and Battle Honours the last being ‘LUCKNOW’. The forte with the retailer’s details of “Jones & Co” of London. The hilt with regulation basket guard, retaining original scarlet and buff leather liner. This enclosing a shagreen grip with twist wire binding. Housed in its full polished brown leather field service scabbard of the correct pattern. Overall Good Condition, small edge nicks to the blade, etching faint to parts, overall dark patina to steelwork.
Crimean War Period Highland Regiment Officer’s Basket Hilted Broadsword by Wilkinson.A good and rare example of the regulation pattern. The double edged straight 32 inch blade is decorated with etched decoration. This includes a crowned VR cypher and to the reverse an Order of the Thistle Star. The cutler’s details are to the forte and the back of the blade with the number 6931. The hilt with full basket, retaining scarlet and buff leather lining. Housed in original black leather scabbard with steel mounts. To obverse of each mount with engraved decoration. Fitted with frog hook, to the top mount and two loose rings. Etching to the blade clear. The etching to the blade of the Order of the Thistle may indicate carried by an Officer of the Scots Fusilier Guards.
Victorian Rifle Volunteers Officer’s Sword.A good 1845 pattern, the single-edged blade with strung bugle device and “Rifle Volunteers” surmounted by a Victorian Crown. The obverse with entwined VR cypher and crown. Fixed guard of fire gilt metal bearing entwined VR Crowned Cypher. Shagreen grip with twist wire binding complete with buff sword knot. Housed in original steel scabbard now painted black. Etching to blade clear. The sword has been refurbished at some time and now with some minor wear to plating, traces of fire gilt to the hilt. GC.
Honourable Artillery Company Infantry Officer’s Regimental Pattern SwordA scarce example, with straight single edged blade. The guard closely follows a Guards pattern, with a flaming grenade device with “HAC” to the ball. Housed in polished brown leather field service scabbard. PLEASE NOTE the blade has been re-polished at some time no etching remains. Overall GC.

The forte with the retailer’s details of “Hobson & Sons”. The hilt of the regulation pattern, the guard incorporating crowned EVIIR cypher, Shagreen grip with copper twist wire binding. Housed in original steel scabbard. Etching clear, blade with stain spots. GC. Hilt with some surface rust. HQ at Worcester
Victorian Indian Army 1847 Infantry Pattern Officer’s sword.A good example with single edged fullered, slightly curved blade decorated with a VRI entwined cypher surmounted by crown. Gilt metal hilt with crowned VRI cypher to the guard, shagreen grip and copper twist wire binding. Housed in steel scabbard fitted with two loose rings. Etching remains clear. Hilt and scabbard with some age wear. GC
WW1 London Irish Rifles Officer’s Sword.A scarce regimental example of the Light Infantry pattern. The straight blade with etched decoration of a GVR crowned cypher and Regimental title “London Irish Rifles”. The hilt of the regulation pattern the guard incorporating a light infantry crowned bugle. Housed in polished brown leather field service scabbard. The sword with age wear, surface rusting spots to the blade and rusting to the guard. Scabbard with damage to the chape. Etching remains clear overall.

The slightly curved single edged blade with etched decoration incorporating the title “North York Rifles”. The hilt with shagreen grip and open guard with Light Infantry bugle. Housed in steel scabbard. Etching to blade clear. PLEASE NOTE back strap to grip loose, pitting to scabbard.
Scottish. 91st Argyllshire Highlanders attributed Victorian Officer’s dirk.A fine and scarce example by Marshall and Son, 87 George Street, Edinburgh. The clipped back 11 inch blade is double edged for the lower 4 inches, the upper section with a wide fuller and retains faint etching of Crowned VR Cypher and other decoration. The black bogwood grip is of an interlaced design decorated with silver studs and surmounted by a plain silver pommel ornamented with a foiled citrine. The silver base of the grip which covers the throat of the scabbard is inscribed ‘ARGYLL HIGHLANDERS’. Black leather covered sheath with thistle ornamented silver mounts each bearing registration mark indicating 26th March 1864; central mount also inscribed “XCI” and houses the matching side by side knife and fork; the top mount bearing a Crowned saltire with VR between the angles. Some staining to blade and minor service wear otherwise generally VGCTop mount and throat bear scratch initials THB attributed by vendor to Thomas Holme Banks born 1847, Ensign in 91st 8th June 1867, Lieutenant 28th May 1870, Instructor of Musketry 1st January 1873, retired 1st September 1875. Lower mount bears scratched initials TOT attributed by vendor to Arthur Ely Tottenham who possibly purchased the dirk from the above Officer. Tottenham appears as a Sub Lieutenant and Lieutenant 1873, Captain 1st July 1881, Major 11th July 1884, retired 15th April 1896, died in Ireland 20th June 1908 (served with 91st in Zulu War 1879)

Framed Grouping of British WW1 Cloth Insignia of the 2/3rd City of London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) of Gallipoli Interest, pair of embroidered red on khaki cloth tunic shoulder titles “3RD LONDON” and overseas service chevrons for 1914 and 1915. Insignias are framed along with a 1914/14-15 star medal ribbon and a silk etching of “W” Beach Gallipoli, underneath the ribbon is inked “SULVA BAY 1915”. Frame measures 23 x 28 ½ cms. On 13th April 1915 the 2/3rd London’s moved to Egypt, landing at Port Said before going on to garrison Khartoum in Sudan. On 15th September 1915 they left Khartoum and returned to Port Said before carrying on to Mudros, where they arrived on the 18 September. They entered the Gallipoli Campaign on 26 September when they landed at Suvla Bay and was attached to the Regulars of 86th Brigade in 29th Division. Here it was assigned to 'C' section of the 'Dublin Castle' sector of the line, with A Company attached to 2nd Bn Royal Fusiliers for training. During two months of trench holding the battalion lost approximately half its strength. then on 26th November 1915 a great thunderstorm hit the peninsula and their trenches were flooded, followed by snow. The 2/3rd London’s were the worst hit of any unit, 50 men drowned and another 30 were evacuated with frostbite, leaving the battalion with an effective strength of just six officers and 50 other ranks. The battalion was evacuated to Mudros on 12th December 1915 but was re-inserted in the Cape Helles sector on 16th December, taking up positions in the 'Gully Beach' area. It was finally evacuated from Gallipoli on 2nd January 1916.
