A group of five prints including an engraving of a river scene in a mill town, an etching of a girl in an interior signed Marcel Jacque, a river scene by Bryce Walker, a street scene and a study of snipe, together with English School modern, Downland landscape, oil on canvas, 44 x 60 cm (6).
James Gillray 1757-1815, (Carlo Kahn)- "Wife & no Wife- or -A Trip to the Continent', publ by William Holland No 66 Drury Lane, London March 27 1785; design'd by Carlo Khan, etching on laid, bears inscriptions in pen lower margin, 36.5x47cm. Note: James Gillray Started life by learning letter-engraving, at which he soon became an adept. This employment, however, did not keep his interest and he wandered about for a time with a company of strolling players. After a very checkered experience he returned to London and was admitted a student in the Royal Academy supporting himself by engraving, and probably issuing a considerable number of caricatures under fictitious names. This etching depicting the marriage of the Prince of Wales and Mrs Fitzherbert.

Ernest Sargieson b.1947- "Pitt Stop Stage 2"; etching with aquatint and working out with pen and black ink, 29.5x24.5cm: together with stages three and four of the same/similar plate, each numbered in pencil: "A Station Barrow", etching with aquatint, signed, titled and numbered 14/15 in pencil, after the same hand, (4) (part unframed) Note: Ernest Sargieson began working on the railways immediately after leaving school. He moved between several British Rail offices before being promoted to Divisional Control at King's Cross. Over the next eight years, he worked on seven of the nine positions in the control. Sargieson left British Rail after obtaining a place in the City and Guilds of London Art School, which in turn led to a place at the Royal Academy Schools. In 1981, he remarked that switching careers had 'put me in my present position, which remains as much of a mystery to me as anyone else!'

Levon West (American 1900-1968) Noon Etching on laid paper, signed titled and numbered 83/100 in pencil 22.5cm x 27cm Note: West gained international recognition as an artist upon the publication of his etching "The Spirit of St. Louis" as CHarles Lindbergh arrived in Paris. His etchings were soon in great demand. He was made Guest Artist by the State of Colorado in 1932 and completed a series of etchings (including "Noon") on western ranch life
William Strang RA (Scottish 1859-1921) Portrait of Robert Louise Stevenson (1850-1894, Novelist, poet and essayist) Etching with monogram 15cm x 11cm Note: Auction records reveal the two most desirable etchings by Strang are those of Rudyard Kipling and Robert Louise Stevenson. At Bonhams, London in 2005 examples achieved prices of £2000 and £800 respectively. This etching of R. L. Stevenson was later published as the frontispiece of 'Vailima Letters' the book detailing the correspondence between Stevenson and Sir Sidney Colvin (1845-1927) Slade Professor of Fine Arts at Cambridge and keeper of Prints at the British Museum, he was also a friend of Stevenson, whose works and letters he edited.
