Peter Winslow Milton (Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, born 1930) Numbered (18-50) lower left. Etching Titled "Julie at Window" lower middle. Signed and dated ('65) lower right. Ferdinand Roten Galleries (Baltimore, Maryland) label verso. Image Size 11.5 x 17.5 in. Overall Size: 21.5 x 27.5 in. Milton is considered "The Print-makers' Print-maker". One of the best graphic artists' in the United States, this is one of his earlier works.

Louis Icart (New York / France, 1888 - 1950) Colored etching of a reclining nude female holding a tangerine with a serpent wrapped around her left arm. Pencil signed lower right. Pencil marked E 2/2. Icart's portrayal of women is usually sensuous, often erotic, yet always imbued an element of humor, which is as important as the implied or direct sexuality. The beautiful courtesans cavort on rich, thick pillows; their facial expressions projecting passion, dismay or surprise, for the women of Louis Icart are the women of France as we have imagined them to be Eve, Leda, Venus, Scheherazade and Joan of Arc, all wrapped up into an irresistible package.

dating: 19th Century provenance: Italy, In iron, of circular, convex shape, decorated with a riveted rosette in the center, slightly raised and twisted border, the surface engraved with etching with eight, triangular beams, featuring busts and trophies on a grained ground and among foliage on a dark ground, smooth segments decorated with rivets, the border with a row of rivets. Internal part completely covered with leather and provided with two handles, leather as well. diameter 54 cm.
