* Rowlandson (Thomas). Rural Sports. A Milling Match.Took Place at Thisselton Gap in the County of Rutland Septr 28.1811. betwixt Cribb and Molineaux on a 25 foot Stage and was the second Public contest between these two Pugilists. It lasted 19 Minutes and 10 Seconds and was decicive (sic) in favour of Cribb. Thomas Tegg, 1811, etching with contemporary hand colouring, mounted to neat line, 240 x 340, framed and glazedQty: (1)NOTESThis famous fight took place before a crowd estimated at 15,000. The English champion Thomas Cribb is shown striking Tom Molineux, who falls backwards. This was the second contest between the fighters and took place at Thisselton Gap, Rutland on September 28, 1811. Molineaux was an African-American, who was purported to be an ex-slave. He had fought Cribb before, at Sheninghton Hollow, in Oxfordshire on December 3, 1810, and was defeated in 35 rounds in a disputed decision. This re-match lasted 19 minutes, Cribb broke his opponent's jaw in the 9th round and knocked him out in the 11th. Note the two pickpockets in the foreground - one male and one female - helping themselves from the distracted spectators.

Late 19th Century Knights of Pythias Society Sword28 1/2 inch, double edged, narrow blade.  Foliage etching and “Knights of Pythias” with gilt infill.  Named to “T H Dresser”.  Brass shell guard decorated with knight on horseback and American eagle.  Blackened alloy crossguard.  Brass knights helm and eagle pommel.  Leather covered grip with twist wire binding.  Contained in its plated steel scabbard.

Mid 19th Century Spanish Main Gauche Left Hand Dagger12 1/4 inch, single edged blade with sharpened back edge point.  Chiselled spine.  Forte with blade braking slots.  The blade with etched and gilt filled floral panels.  Similar decoration to the forte with “Artilleria Fabrica De Toledo”.  9 /12 inch, steel crossguard.  Steel bowl guard with floral etching.  Steel pommel.  Copper wire bound grip with steel edge bars.  Still retains its steel scabbard throat with floral etching.  Fine quality made piece.
