Ceiling frescoes.- Audran (Gérard, 1640-1703) La Vigilance avec ses Symboles, et Mercure comme le plus vigilant des Dieux, after Pierre Mignard (1612-1695), etching and engraving, on thick wove paper, platemark 520 x 755 mm. (20 1/2 x 29 3/4 in), thin margins, some small repaired tears, minor surface dirt and even browning, unframed, [1688].
Ceiling frescoes.- Aquila (Francesco Faraone, 1670-1745) Four large plates of frescoes from the Stanze di Raffaello, after Raphael, etching and engravings, with extensive hand-colouring, on thick laid paper, from 485 x 570 mm. (19 1/8 x 22 1/2 in) to 520 x 690 mm. (20 1/2 x 27 1/4 in), central vertical folds, minor surface dirt and even browning, unframed, published by de Rossi, [circa 1710-1720] (4).
§ Norman Stevens (British, 1937-1988) Painswick, Moonlight signed lower right "Norman Stevens '79" , numbered 60/150, and with Christie's blindstamp etching and aquatint 57 x 76cm (22 x 30in) Provenance: Christie's Contemporary Art, London Under glass and corners appear stuck down, with some brown discolouration.
§ Phyllis Ginger (British, 1907-2005) Street scene signed lower right within the print "Phyllis Ginger" colour lithograph 42 x 68cm (16 x 27in) Other Notes: Phyllis Ginger belonged to a generation of women artists whose work is relatively unknown, even though their contribution to English painting was substantial. Born in New Malden, Surrey, she trained at Richmond School of Art under Stanley Roy Badmin. She aspired to become an illustrator but she was more captivated by the medium of etching and portraiture as a subject. She first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1938. Ginger's skill as a topographical artist led to her involvement in the "Recording Britain" scheme, started in 1939. The V&A Prints and Drawings department holds 19 watercolours belonging to this scheme, her most important commission, completed for the Pilgrim Trust between 1940 and 1942. Condition appears fine.

§ Lettice Sandford (British, 1902-1983) Illustration for "The Golden Bed of Kydno" wood engraving 22 x 14cm (9 x 5in) Literature: Illustration from "The Golden Bed of Kydno", translated from the Modern Greek of Evadne Lascaris by P Mathers and illustrated with twelve line-engravings by Lettice Sandford, pub. The Golden Cockerel Press, 1935 Other Notes: As a girl, Lettice Rate studied at the Byam Shaw and Vicat Cole School of Art, and later, with an interest in book illustration, at the Art Section of the Chelsea Polytechnic. Here she worked under Percy Jowett, who had earlier taught her at her boarding school in north London. She was taught engraving on wood by Robert Day, and etching by Graham Sutherland. On a skiing holiday in Switzerland, she met the printer, Christopher Sandford, and they were married in 1929. Together they ran the Boar's Head Press whose books were printed at the Chiswick Press, of which Christopher Sandford was a Director. Condition is fine.
Norman Lindsay (Australian, 1879-1969) Lesbia signed lower right "Norman Lindsay 1921" and numbered 38/54 etching 17 x 18cm (7 x 7in) Provenance: Private collection, Cambridge Other Notes: Norman Lindsay is widely regarded as one of Australia's greatest artists, producing a vast body of work in different media, including pen drawing, etching, watercolour, oil and sculptures in concrete and bronze. A large body of his work is housed in his former home at Faulconbridge, New South Wales - now the Norman Lindsay Gallery. Today Norman Lindsay etchings, drawings, paintings, books and sculptures are keenly sought after and major pieces rarely come on to the open market. A little browning around the edges but fine.

Since her appearance in the first set of etched portrait heads in 1989, she has appeared as a subject in numerous prints. Julia was the main subject of study in Auerbach's etchings in the years 1998-2001, when she was usually drawn in the reclining pose that she adopted to save getting too tired. In some of the prints she is asleep. Condition is fine.
