AFTER GABRIEL PERELLE FOUR VIEWS OF THE CHATEAU, PARK, AND GARDEN AT CHANTILLY Etching, mounted as three One inscribed 'A Paris chez N Langlois rue St Jacques a la Victoire' (lower left) Plate 22 x 32cm (8½ x 12½ in.) and smaller Unframed (3) These plates were engraved by Gabriel Perelle (1604 - 1677) and published as part of a large series of views of mostly France, titled Veues des belles maisons de France, by the Langlois and Mariette families in the 17th and 18th centuries. The works offered here include two plates which carry the address for Nicolas Langlois, (1640-1703). Only one complete set of this series has been offered at auction, a 1703 edition with all plates carrying the Langlois printed address. Both the Chateau and the gardens at Chantilly were designed by Andre le Norte (1613 - 1700).(This lot is offered without reserve)

Three pieces of crystal with silverware, with a cheese dome with etching and a silver knob, ø20x15cm., various chips, a contoured glass with etching placed on a long silver foot with Biedermeier finish, 14.5cm. and a carafe with grinding and a silver collar. 23 cm. Various grades. In reasonably good condition.

A painting with strong similarities was sold at Dorotheum, Vienna, Old Master Paintings II, 12 May 2022, lot 273, as Attributed to Josef Van Bredael Condition Report: Scattered areas of flaking and paint loss throughout. Surface dirt and discolouration. Would benefit from a clean. Uneven varnish. Some light craquelure. The reverse of the copper plate with upper left corner of a design for an etching, with some light wear but in good condition commensurate with age. Old Master Print. Ludwig Wilhelm Busch (1703-1772) after Rembrandt (1606-1669) - Portrait of an Old Man in a Beret, bust-length and front facing, within a feigned double-ruled frame, s.l. [Brunswick], n.d. [mid-18th c], etching, 8.5 x 6.4cm, [Bartsch 1797 (Rembrandt), p. II, 147, 7] Unexamined out of frame, but apparently fairly fresh, with some marginal browning, surface dirt and signs of handling; the sheet probably affixed to the mount.

Matthias Darly (publisher; c. 1720-1780) - The Three Graces of Cox-Heath, [London, 1779], etching, with contemporaneous hand-colouring, 23 x 30.5cm A rare print satirising the Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire (1757-1806), Elizabeth FitzRoy, Duchess of Grafton (1745-1822), and Jane Gordon, Duchess of Gordon (1748-1812), all of whom followed their ducal husbands and their respective militias - in the Devonshires' case Derbyshire - to Coxheath, near Maidstone, Kent, then the British Army's camp training raw troops into soldiers, to fight alongside the British Army, during the American Revolutionary War. The aristocratic ladies even had their dressmakers tailor fashionable 'military uniforms' for themselves. A rare satirical print. Unexamined out of frame, but apparently trimmed with loss of lettering. The sheet somewhat browned, yet displaying well.
