Items relating to Lindbergh’s first solo crossing of the Atlantic, 1927, comprising: folding menu printed in black and yellow for “Luncheon offered by the American Club of Paris to Capt Charles A. Lindbergh at the Hotel Ambassador on May 24th 1927” including “Bombe glacée Lindbergh”, with top of the globe and details of flight route, on the front is a lithograph of Lindbergh’s plane Spirit of St Louis, the Eiffel Tower and searchlights and on the back the plane flying over the Atlantic; a small card with autograph of “Charles A Lindbergh”; an etching of the plane in a blaze of light; 2 etchings of French walled towns; all the artwork is signed by the artist A.C.Webb. Annan & Sons Ltd., Edinburgh Note: Born in New Zealand, Hester Frood came to England at the age of seven and spent her youth near Exeter in Devon. She met the famous printmaker D.Y. Cameron on a visit to Scotland in 1906. He was so impressed with her work that he told her to "draw and draw" and offered to teach her the technique of etching. During the following years her work was exhibited widely at the Royal Scottish Academy and at the Royal Academy in London.

Pablo Picasso, Spanish 1881-1973- "Four Heads of Men"; from "Les Métamorphoses d'Ovide", 1931, etching printed in black and sanguine, 33x25.6cm (sheet, no plate mark) (may be subject to Droit de Suite) Provenance: From the art collection at the former St Gabriel's College, Camberwell. St Gabriel's was a Church of England teacher training college, founded in 1899 and closed in 1978. Its Art Department attracted talented teachers and artists whose vocation was to inspire young teachers through studying and imitating the work of great artists. The paintings and drawings in this collection were collected by the College's staff through donations and purchases during the interwar and post-war periods. After the College's closure, the collection was transferred to the ownership of an educational trust and until recently loaned to Goldsmith's University of London. CONDITION REPORT: mounted in a glazed wooden frame, early 21st century full edges of sheet visible, stuck down on centres and corners sheet slightly ruckled right hand side and bottom deckle edges and right hand edge of sheet slightly grubby yellow shadows from old mount visible around edges further yellow staining around edges overall sheet is slightly yellowed otherwise in overall very good condition

'St Mary, Woolnoth' also has a minor stain mark in the plate. Otherwise the prints are in good condition. Four in matching frames with 'The Guild of Mastercraftsmen' sticker attached verso, with the lead in a slightly different frame.
