Francis Kelly (American, 1927-2012), The Ribbon, Etching 6/40, signed bottom right, mounted and framed. Measurements 32.5 x 18 cm, framed measurements 55.2 x 39.4 cm Francis Kelly (1927-2012) was an American artist from Minnesota. He studied at the University of Hawaii and also under the printmaker John Paul Jones at the UCLA, before arriving in London in the 1950s having been awarded the Fulbright Grant to undertake a diploma in etching. He had success with etchings, regularly showing his work at Editions Graphiques. Kelly also studied painting conservation at the Courtauld Institute and was commissioned to aid in the restoration of flood damaged art in Florence. Kelly is well known for his representations of the female form and landscapes inspired by his love of the Devonshire countryside.

Watermark "Arches France".Jean Solombre was an internationally respected painter, engraver, and writer. Images of Solombre paintings were also woven as tapestries at the world renowned Les Atelier Aubusson, in France. Solombre's work is romantic and mysterious in imagery, and rich in technical skill. His printmaking intaglio technique masterfully combines the techniques of aquatint and engraving. * HARRY MAGEE (SCOTTISH CONTEMPORARY), SILENT CITY etching, signed, titled and numbered 7/50 12cm x 32cm Mounted, framed and under glass. Note: Harry Magee trained at Glasgow School of Architecture from 1960 to 1962 and then at Glasgow School of Art, 1962 to 1964. He took up printmaking when he joined Glasgow Print Studio in 1978, working in photo-etching and later in photopolymer gravure. He was elected a Professional Member of the Scottish Society of Artists in 1988 and served as Chair of Glasgow Print Studio from 1989 to1993. He has had many solo exhibitions and taken part in numerous group and selected shows. His work is held in Public, Corporate and Private Collections.

WATERLOO INTEREST: 'The Field of Battle, Waterloo, as it appeared, July 24th, 1815', A panoramic view showing the battlefield, looking towards La Belle Alliance (2) and Hougoumont (3) from the east, etching and aquatint, 14cm x 60cm; This view, taken just over a month after the battle, shows the uneven nature of the ground, which allowed for Wellington to shield his infantry from French artillery fire. The site was a draw for tourists almost immediately after the battle. An example of this print is in the Royal Collection, probably acquired by King George IV when Prince Regent
