(9.5 x 8in) all monogrammed "JWA" and dated 1798, 1800 and 1793 respectively in the plate two etchings; and etching with aquatint; three mounted together as one Other Notes: Abbott's talents in rendering the nuanced effects of lighting and recession in the monochrome medium lent themselves well to printmaking. He is known to have produced some etchings - however, these are very rare. Only sixteen original printed works by Abbott are currently known and the only near-complete series was given to the British Museum by the artist's second son, Francis Abbott, in 1880. The first two trimmed to the plate mark. Tipped in to the mount. The third one on laid paper.
