A Chinese blue and white lamp vase, of shouldered circular form, profusely decorated with exotic bird and flowers on a wooden plinth base with lamp fitting, 59cm H and two others lamps to include a celadon type and another decorated with flowers. (3) Upon initial inspection noted loss to the handle around the neck, but other wise there is no apparent damage or restoration.
An early 20th century North European carved alabaster bust of a Flemish girl wearing a lace bonnet, unsigned, on grey marble plinth, height 32cm Condition: Rather dirty and dusty but otherwise in good condition, a few minute bruises and tiny chips to the raised upper edges of some of the costume, plinth in matching condition.
G. Pineschi (Italian c.1900). A carved alabaster and rose quartz bust of an Italian woman, signed, with variegated alabaster plinth, height 59cmCondition: Overall dirty and discoloured, particularly to the white of the alabaster but much of this is in the actual colour of the stone, such as the veining running through her face. The pink quartz area shows one or two shallow bruises, notably one near the top of her right shoulder and possibly one to the front of her left upper arm. Otherwise minor chipping around the plinth and a small chip to the rose quartz at the back with further fritting to one side. Signed on the back, a little light surface scratching to the back of her headscarf. Overall fair to good condition.
A late 19th century Black Forest carved gilt and stained pine bust of Sibilla Delphica, height 62cm width 70cm Condition: An old split to the back of her hat which is not visible from the front, probably slight fading to the paint work, minor scratching to her neck, splits running through the gilt robe down from both shoulders towards the front, and some smaller scuffed and chipped losses to the edges of the cape, one or two small worm holes showing in the hands and the plinth, old splits showing around the edges of the plinth and rubbing across the base.

AFTER HOWARD WHITTAKER bronze sculpture - 'Seabiscuit', the famous American race horse with Johnny 'Red' Pollard Up, base bears signature and copyright date 2001, on black marble plinth base, 59cms long x 24cms wide x 55cms high ~Auctioneer's Note: This bronze represents Red Pollard on Seabiscuit on the occasion of the famous head to head race against War Admiral at the Pimlico racecourse in Baltimore on the 1st November 1938, the race was promoted by the media as a David and Goliath / West Coast v East Coast battle. Seabiscuit, the underdog, was of small stature but despite this disadvantage, overcame War Admiral by four lengths to the applause of 40,000 race go-ers and 40 Million radio listeners including Franklin D Roosevelt, it was perceived as a symbol of hope during the great depression. George III Oak Breakfront Bookcase, 278cm wide x 65cm deep x 232cm high (a.f.), removed from a local Country Estate Office Note - this bookcase is in an original and essentially sound condition, but does have some condition issues as follows:Loss to dentil moulding to cornice, one glass pane cracked, horizontal crack along part of top of the base section, vertical shrinkage splits to two of the base doors, later handles, later locks, loss to plinth on each side We have a similar period similar sized mahogany example from the same source (housed in the same estate office facing opposite this example) for sale in our May 15th auction.

The variety of projects he is involved with are multi faceted ranging from the video for Blur’s ‘Good Song’ to ‘Kingsley’ Shigley’s mascot for the Scottish football team Partick Thistle to ‘Really Good’ a sculpture of a bronze fist with upraised, out of proportion thumb which he created for the Fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square. Shrigley was created an O.B.E. in 2020 for services to the visual arts. Recent notable exhibitions include those in Glasgow, Germany and Sweden and he was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2013. His work is held in a number of important public collections including National Galleries of Scotland and Tate.
