An oak kneehole desk, the tooled and gilded leather insert top above central drawer flanked by two further drawers on two pedestals of three drawers to a plinth base CONDITION REPORTS Top has scuff marks. There is a burn mark to the top left hand side. Escucheons / handles have been replaced. The right hand bank drawers are marked with an "R". The left hand bank drawers with an "L". Some areas of water damage. There are signs of splitting and warping conducive with age and use. One drawer has a small section of the corner missing. There is a bit of replaced veneer in the left hand corner of the knee hole. See images for more details.
A pair of Universal Furniture commodes of oval form in the George III taste, the black marble top above bind fretwork decoration and three long drawers to plinth base CONDITION REPORTS Measure approximately 91.5cm x 61cm to top and 81.5cm high. Both marble tops are cracking and have significant losses. Both bases have knocks, scratches, bumps etc conducive with age and use, although one has a more significant knock to the back moulding and a paint mark on the back corner. A Victorian mahogany Wellington chest of seven drawers with turned wooden handles, on a plinth base CONDITION REPORTS A couple of handles are sticking, although not loose. It looks as though one or two of them are replacements. Some areas of bruising on the outer edges and the left hand side column is splitting away from the main body. The side panels have some areas of splitting. Has general wear, bruising etc conducive with age and use. See images for more details. 109cm (h) x 54 cm (w) x 37cm (d) approx
A dentist's style walnut cabinet, the pierced three quarter gallery above a tambour front enclosing a mirrored interior having a marble shelf and an arrangement of 14 drawers, above two frieze drawers and a pair of panel doors below, on a plinth base, 71 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by GH The Dentist's cabinet: Pierced gallery around the top - there is evidence of damage and re-gluing along the left hand side and also on the left hand side, a piece of dowel, which allows the gallery to fix to the top of the unit is missing, otherwise it is good with chips and scratches commensurate with age. The top of the cabinet has ring marks, old scratches and marks and wear commensurate with age. Moving down the ebonised moulding, has evidence of scratches and knocks all the way round. Moving down to the shutter style door, this operates smoothly but has one of the turned handles missing. The interior of the cabinet: The internal mirrors have some silvering and foxing to the glass but no cracks or damage. The marble is also in good condition with only some minor chips to the edges. Moving down to the array of small drawers, the top left drawer has a missing turned handle, which does not appear to be present. Moving down the brushing slide appears to have its original felt covering which is stained and worn commensurate with age. Moving down, the frieze drawers also, what appears to be the original felt lining, in good used condition with both handles present. Both cupboard doors appear to have all moulding present, however, there are two large areas of veneer loss towards the centre of the unit on both doors, and the plinth also all present but chipped, dented and scratched with use. Both sides of the unit are also in reasonably good condition, the left hand side of the unit has more sun fading than the right, and both display stains, chips and dents etc. It should also be noted that there do not appear to be any keys present with this piece. A mahogany sectional bookcase the moulded cornice above five sections with five cupboards with hinged cupboard doors on a plinth, 72.5cm wide x 29cm deep x 176cm high CONDITION REPORT: Overall condition is good, the usual scratches and signs of wear that would be expected, the doors are side to side hinged not up and over doors, alll work okay
A 19th century oak longcase clock, the arched hood with a globe finial and Ionic columns above a long trunk door, box base and plinth, the 30cm brass dial with Tempus Fugit roundel and rocking figure of Old Father Time, the brass chapter ring with Roman numerals,inscribed William Cockling, Sandwich and a seconds subsidiary dial striking on a bell, 221cm high
19th CENTURY INLAID ROSEWOOD CARRIAGE TYPE MANTEL CLOCK, having satinwood strung inlaid and foliate decorated case, yellow metal 'c' scroll loop handle, full depth silvered and engine turned face, and having French brass drum movement striking on one bell. 8.25" high (21cm). CONDITION REPORT: Areas of lifting and lost veneers to the case, particularly on the lower plinth. Rather grubby overall.
PIERRE LE FAGUAYS, (French, 1892-1935), 'The Message of Love', patinated bronze figure of a standing nude female releasing a dove, Portor marble plinth with engraved signature. Overall 15" high including plinth (38cm), 11" (27.5cm). CONDITION REPORT: Minor wear and scuffs to the patination, the wrist seems slightly misshapen holding the dove, the two sections of the base plinth are loosely connected, minor chips to edges and extremities of plinth. No foundry mark to base.
A 19TH/20TH CENTURY THAI IVORY & WOOD SHRINE, centred by a good quality ivory carving of Buddha raised on a wood plinth and flanked by two ivory elephants, behind him an elaborate pierced ivory canopy, and before him on the lower wood tier sit two ivory monks, 9.5in high.
