A French porcelain mounted gilt bronze striking mantel clock Leroy & Fils, Paris No.5319, last quarter of 19th century, the painted porcelain dial with gilt-heightened chapters and pierced brass hands, the dial and plaques decorated with medieval figures and heraldic devices, eight-day outside countwheel bell-striking movement, the back plate stamped `LEROY &FILS NO. 5319 A PARIS`, set into a figural panel and spiral pilaster cast ovoid case with reclining figure and shield cast surmount to the domed top above mace, axe and shield applied scroll cast waisted upright, the plinth base with shaped apron and scroll pierced feet, 12.75in. (32.5cm.) high.
A magnificent George III musical bracket clock circa 1820, by the noted maker Santiago James Moore French, of 15 Sweetings Alley, Royal Exchange, London, the eight day striking movement with quarter chiming and cylinder playing six musical airs on twelve bells, the backplate signed `French Royal Exchange London` within an oval cartouche, the arched white enamelled Roman dial similarly signed, with painted floral spandrels and arch cartouche, pierced brass hands, beneath paired chime/not chime and musical air subsidiary dials, the airs titled `O Dolce Concento`, `The Tank`, `Roast Beef`, `Russian Dance`, `The Padlock` and `Tekeli`, in an ebonised case with gilt bronze mounts, the caddy top surmounted by a detachable flambé finial with storage compartment beneath, over a pierced floral lattice frieze flanked by four smaller flambé finials, above an arched glazed door with pierced ormolu spandrels and an arched rear pierced grille door, both flanked by canted corners with swagged musical trophy mounts, the sides with floral latticework panels and gilt bronze carrying handles, raised on a plinth with central ormolu battle trophy mount, on four ormolu foliate scroll feet, 35½in. (90cm.) high, 16¼in. (41cm.) wide.
A National Time Recorder Co. clocking in machine the mahogany, cast iron mounted case with company transfer lettering to the glazed door, with painted and signed Roman dial with day of week aperture, eight day movement, the lower section with `In-Out` selector and brass handle, on a plinth base, 38¾in. An impressive and fine quality Channel Islands mahogany compactum wardrobe mid-19th century, in fine quality mahogany veneers over an oak frame and linings, the flared ogee moulded pediment supported on floral scroll brackets, over a central linen press with pair of panelled doors with foliate scroll crests, enclosing the three original slides, the base with ogee top drawer and two graduated drawers with turned handles, flanked by a pair of hanging robes with conforming panelled doors, fitted with brass hanging hooks, all raised on a moulded plinth base, 92¾in. (235.5cm.) high, 96¾in. (246cm.) wide, 31in. (79cm.) deep.
A walnut serpentine double pedestal desk early 20th century, the moulded top with serpentine front and bowed back, with gilt tooled tan leather writing surface, over three frieze drawers, a central recessed kneehole cupboard door and four graduated drawers to each pedestal, all with ebony edge banding and angular brass handles, on a moulded plinth base with concealed casters beneath, 53in. An unusual mid-19th century Guernsey documents chest the moulded lid with inset arched brass plaque, inscribed `Douzaine, Canton-du-Sud, 1844`, raised on a moulded plinth base, the sides with gilt brass carrying handles, 25 x 19¼in. (63.5 x 49cm.), 16in. (40.5cm.) high. * This chest is believed to relate to the St Peter Port parish, which was divided into four cantons for the purposes of increasing representation in the States for the island`s most populous parish. Canton Four is the south Canton, or `Canton-du-Sud`.
