CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away. When the hands are advanced the movement strikes. The minute hand is detached and bent but present. The automaton is operating. The seatboard is old and the cheeks have not been built up. The mask around the dial fits well. The case is generally in good order. It looks to have been re-polished in fairly recent times. There are some minor repairs around the extremities. The trunk door fits well with only very minor warping. The plinth around the base is probably a later edition but the colour is a good match. There is a joint stress fracture on the front base panel. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.

The middle drawer also has a similar but far fainter stress fracture to the veneer. The same comments apply to the right-hand drawer. Strangely enough the pleated fabric is actually over wood over a mahogany panel. It is not glazed. All doors close correctly and are not warped. All locks and escutcheons are present but we do not have any keys. They are all unlocked. The sides of the cabinet are in good condition with no splits. The plinth base has the usual marks and scuffs around the extremities as one would expect.

The left-hand door bottom panel moulding is missing. The right-hand door top panel moulding is missing. The door panels themselves are not split. The sides of the base have scratches but no splits. The top left-hand drawer has the upright section of cockbeading missing and the lower drawers both have losses to the cockbeading. There are some minor losses to the crossbanding around and between the drawer fronts. The plinth has minor marks and small veneer losses as one would expect. The legs are original and in good order as are the backboards. The locks and hinges are original but are not named. There is no sign of any woodworm.
