A large late 19th century mahogany partners' desk: the dark Morocco leather-inset thumbnail moulded top above an arrangement of nine various graduated drawers; the opposing side with three true frieze drawers and two cupboard doors below (each as three graduated false drawers); raised on plinth base. (LWH 146 x 106 x 74.5 cm). Provenance - from the main boardroom of Kleinwort Benson.
A walnut veneered and feather-banded eight-day longcase clock: the 12-inch brass dial behind a glazed door flanked by two columns, the silver chapter ring with Roman numerals and signed Jno. Austin - Wattford [sic] and cornered by ornately pierced spandrels with two cherubic-style figures holding aloft a crown in veneration of the 1660 Restoration of the Stuart monarchy; the textured centre dial with subsidiary seconds dial (hand missing) and ornately engraved date aperture above the 6 o'clock position; tall rectangular and feather banded trunk door with oval glass pendulum viewing aperture; the movement striking on a bell; crossbanded lower section; raised on plinth base, with weights and pendulum. (209.5 cm high)Condition: We're not sure if the case is contemporary with the movement. The clock was refurbished circa 1940. Although looks good together, newer wood has been put onto the platform so it sits correctly.
A large pair of 19th century basalt urn vases in neoclassical style: the reticulated covers with bud finials above Pharaoh-style mask handles interconnected with harebell swags, raised on square plinth bases, apparently unmarked. (38 cm high)* Condition report: One vase has a very small chip to the edge of the base, a small firing crack just below the shoulder to one side and a tiny firing crack below the chin on both mask handles. There is also a shallow chip beneath the edge of the cover. The second vase has an old glued repair to the cover finial, which has been off. The vase has several small firing cracks to the underside of the base and another larger firing crack to one side of the base, with a tiny chip to the edge on the same side. There is also a noticeable firing crack beneath the chin and to the nose on one of the mask handles.
Albany Fine China Company Ltd., England - a limited edition china model of a springer spaniel retrieving; modelled by Neil Campbell; wooden plinth-style base. (Full length of sculpture and base 28.5 cm.)* Condition report: There is damage to the duck on the spaniel’s mouth – the wingtip is missing and there is a glued repair to a piece which has been off on the duck’s tail. There are also a couple of tiny glaze frits to the spaniel’s ear on the same side.
