A brass and leather upholstered club fender, late 20th century and manufactured by Robin Gage, with leather rests on columnar supports and chamfered plinth base, external measurements: 53cm high, 190cm wide, 61cm deep; internal measurements: 168cm wide, 58cm deepCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions, consistent with age and use,The tops of the rests with creases and marks, no screws here, these would need to be sourced by the purchaserNB The photograph in the printed catalogue has been transposed, in fact the tear to the leather is to the right hand side of the fender (not to the left). The image showing on our website has been correct throughout. The left hand seat section is not fixed to the fender.The leather ceased and cracked, especially to the front sections of the seat, with a tear, lacking one section of leather approximately 6cm x 6cm, with other cracks almost torn through. The 'studding' is length of embossed metal trim rather than individual nail studs. Some staining to the leather including green spots close to the torn leather. Dirt and discolouration to the metal areas. Y A Swiss rosewood and tulipwood banded musical box, Nicole Freres, circa 1890, playing a choice of twelve airs via a pinned brass cylinder and tuned steel combs, the movement driven by a single wound spring drum mounted on a gilt iron bed beneath a hinged glass internal cover, with selection levers to the side, the combs stamped by the maker, the lid with applied printed and hand written tune sheet also printed for the maker and inscribed Gme. 1882 and serial numbered 45620, the tunesheet also bearing Keith Prowse & Co., Cheapside, Londrés retailer's name, the case of typical rectangular form with marquetry inlaid lid and lid, and with flanking handles, 22cm high, 65cm wide, 31cm deepCondition Report: The case with marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, it is uneven overall and may well benefit from a clean and repolished. There are some old marks and stains, the plinth with signs of old woodworm. A Regency mahogany library bookcase, circa 1815, of breakfront outline, the moulded cornice above glazed bookcase doors, the base with arrangement of cupboard doors, 236cm high, 251cm wide, 56cm deepProvenance: Berwick House, ShropshireCondition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old splits and chips. Section of moulding to one side of the cornice is an ebonised old replacement. Some opening of the joints at the edges of the panel to the doors of the lower sections. Some fading and variation in the colour of the timber between different sections of the bookcase. The sides are darker and have a more 'dry' surface than the front of the bookcase. This is likely from where the piece was placed in a room and the sunlight has caught different areas. The flame mahogany used in the bookcase is of impressive quality. One key present and operates lock to central lower doors. No key present for other locks. All are open except for the central upper doors where the lock is seized in the closed position. The central upper doors can still be opened and closed though. Some of the doors catch slightly on the hinges of the adjacent doors when opening. Two of the upper glazed doors with a panel of replacement glass each (old glass has been used). Some screws lacking to the hinges and various later screws are securing hinges. Escutcheon and lock plate to one side lower door is lacking. Some minor wood worm to underside and back. Very slight gap between the two pairs of central doors when closed (not flush). Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition. Overall length across the cornice - 249cm. The bookcase disassembles into nine pieces; cornice, three glazed sections, three lower section, the 'waist', and the plinth base. Condition Report Disclaimer
