A Copeland Parian bust of Beethoven, on ebonised plinth, the reverse of the bust stamped 'Copy of the bust in the possession of the Philamonic Society of London by A.Hays No.18 1871', gross h.35cm.Some light scratching, particularly to the hair.Slightly grubby.Ebonising to the plinth is quite rubbed and scratched, and would benefit from re-ebonising.Slightly loose on the plinth.
A 19th century ormolu mounted walnut pier cabinet, the line inlaid moulded stepped top with a band of ormolu decoration, above the deep frieze over the shaped glazed door enclosing shelves, flanked by ormolu appliques, standing on a plinth base with further ormolu appliques. 112 cm high; 82 cm wide, 30 cm deep.
A late 18th/early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, the arched top surmounted with brass eagle and ball finial, flanked by turned finials, the brass face with silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals enclosing the twin winding apertures, subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, engraved Smith London, the case with moulded arched door above the moulded panel, standing on a plinth base. 225 cm high.
~ An Oak Thirty Hour Longcase Clock, signed Joseph Monkhouse, Fecit, circa 1780, broken arch pediment, 12-inch square brass dial, dial centre signed, date aperture, four pillar movement with an anchor escapement and countwheel striking on a bell, 214cm high 06.12.19 Hood with chips and cracks in parts, case with scratches and chips, re-built plinth, dial is discoloured, movement is dirty, with pendulum and one weight.
A Late 18th Century Joined Oak Chest, the moulded hinged lid enclosing a candle box, with moulded plinth base and later bracket feet, 70cm by 36cm by 42cm. In reasonable cosmetic condition. Hinged lid with very small minor? split and very slightly misshapen. Bracket feet of later date as underside darkened/stained. 191119
A Pair of Victorian Burr Walnut Bedside Cabinets, the four graduated drawers with turned knob handles, on plinth bases, 63cm by 44cm by 84cm See illustration . In excellent cosmetic condition, recently restored. Veneer replaced on the top rear section of each chest and is not an exact match (see image). All drawers open but no key. Each drawer fitted with Hobbs of London brass locks. Probably adapted from a dressing table. 191119
A Victorian Silver Punch-Bowl, by Walker and Hall, Sheffield, 1897, tapering cylindrical and on spreading foot, the shaped rim with cast and chased border of putto and female figures in a watery landscape, engraved with an inscription, with ebonised wood plinth, 35cm diam., 43cm high including plinth, 64oz 13dwt The inscription reads 'Presented to Thomas Brassey Maddocks by tenants and friends on his Coming of Age 3rd Sept 1895'. Thomas Brassey Maddocks (1874-1901) was the son of Thomas Maddocks of Woodlands-in-Wem, Shropshire (b.1846) and his wife Mary Crawley, who he married in 1873. The younger Thomas was born on 3 September 1874 and educated at Shrewsbury School before joining first the Somersetshire Light Infantry and later the Shropshire Light Infantry, becoming Lieutenant in October 1898. He travelled with his regiment to South Africa and was killed there during the re-occupation of Potchefstroom on 10 September 1900. . Fully marked near rim. The marks are generally clear. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use as well as some minor bruises. The wear is noticeable as a slight softening to the high points. The gilding inside is somewhat pale. There is a visible seam in the border which is likely to be constructional where the border was soldered together. There are some minor scratches to the border.
A Silver-Plated Inkstand Timepiece, 20th Century, oblong, the base with rests for the two silver-plated mounted cut-glass bottles, with a central plinth with horse head masks either side and with jockey finial, 26.5cm wide. In generally good condition with only some minor scratches consistent with use. The clock mechanism is only accessible by unscrewing the base. The mechanism has not been examined and is not currently in working order.
