London Scottish bronze rifleman, depicted standing holding a Lee Enfield, approx 24 cms h, mounted on a circular plinth together with a copy of Robson J.O (1699 B Company 1st Battalion) The Uniform of the London Scottish (1859-1959). Height measurement excludes the plinth. Originally the property of Lionel GH Horton-Smith, London Scot, MA, FSA Scot, and Barrister at Law. Lt.Col David AG Horton-Smith MBE TD (1910-1991) was commissioned into the London Scottish Regiment (his fathers regiment) in 1936. In 1940 his regiment was stationed ont he south coast, with the expectation of imminent invasion. He was then Captain, and Adjutant, 2nd London Infantry Brigade. On D-Day 5th June 1944 he landed with Canadian Regiments on Juno Beach, and attached to Divisional HQ Staff, involved with the planning and logistics, was part of the allied push across Europe. He was twice mentioned in dispatches and awarded the Territorial Decoration. After the war he was elected an NRA Council Member, and was variously, Chairman of the Works Committee and sometime Vice President. He was strongly associated with London and Middlesex RA, The Scottish Rifle Club, The British Commonwealth Rifle Club (formerly the India Rifle Club), The Old Marlburian Rifle Club amongst others. He had a longstanding presence on the Bisley shooting scene and was very much involved with promoting and facilitating the sport of rifle shooting. His contribution to shooting both at home and abroad was the source of his MBE. He represented the NRA on eight overseas team tours between 1954 to 1971 of which 6 to Canada, and one to Canada and the USA. The remainder to Africa-4 countries. He retained a strong affinity with Canadian shots, having fought with, and supported Canadian forces at pivotal points of WWII.

Isaac Goddard of London 8-day longcase clock with 12" brass dial with subsidiary seconds, calendar, crown and cherub spandrels, a 5 pillar movement and inside count wheel. H&R Daniel - Three vases, circa 1825-35Comprising a spill vase, of wavy rim form with twin ring handles and a beaded upper and lower foot, nicely painted with a single panel of an exotic bird, unmarked, 12cm high; and two similarly shaped pot pourri vases (lacking covers), circa 1822-24, the first with mazarine blue ground, of twin-handled form with ornate animal head handles and a pierced upper rim, painted with roses to the neck and a canted panel of assorted flowers including a tulip, poppy and convolvulus, unmarked, 24.5m high; the second, lacking handles, finely painted with garden scenery including an ornamental vase on a plinth and a statue with garden flowers, and an opposing large spray of pink roses,26.5cm high (all at fault)Provenance: The Michael Berthoud Collection.Literature: Illustrated in Smith, Identifying Daniel Ornamental Wares, fig. 385.Condition:Pink spill vase - Foot broken and repaired. H&R Daniel - A pair of pot pourri vases, circa 1822-25lacking covers, of campagna type with twin mask handles, raised on a short cylindrical plinth with gilt acanthus leaves above a square gilt base, decorated with a 'Shrewsbury green' ground, hand-enamelled opposing panels of flowers within complex frames, the lower bodies moulded with acanthus leaves in white and yellow with gilt tracing, unmarked, 26.5cm high (restored)Provenance: The Michael Berthoud Collection. Literature: Illustrated in Smith, Identifying Daniel Ornamental Wares, page 60.Condition:Both vases restored.Vase 1 - One handle is broken and restuck, the other is restored (re-built and re-gilded). A chip to one corner of the base. Broken from the plinth and re-secured with a bolt. There are numerous hairlines (most noticeable to the upper rim and the vase's interior). Vase 2 - More significant restoration. The vase has been broken off the pedestal and re-attached, there is restoration to the lower portion of the body of the vase which has signs of re-painting around all of the acanthus moulded section. This restoration is now yellowing. Both handles appear intact. Some slight nibbles/loss of gilding around the corners of the base. A restored inner rim chip, approximately 3cm wide x 1cm deep. Crazing to the glaze. Again, hairlines visible typical of Daniel porcelain of this type - most noticeably a crack through the base.The painted panels on both vases are in good condition with no obvious scratches or rubbing. Despite the restoration, they still display nicely.
H&R Daniel - A good quality porcelain pot pourri vase and cover, circa 1822-27of twin-handled form, with a butterfly finial to the pierced cover, the vase with a frilled acanthus lined upper rim, the maroon ground decorated with two front-facing oval panels of enamelled polychrome floral sprays, opposed by secondary raised gilt scenes featuring a female figure beside a tree with houses beyond, and a further similar scene featuring a male to the cylindrical plinth base, raised on a square plinth pedestal base, unmarked, 37.1cm high (repaired)Provenance: The Michael Berthoud Collection.Literature: Illustrated in Smith, Identifying Daniel Ornamental Wares, page 233.Condition:The vase has been re-secured to the plinth with a bolt (at the level of the middle acanthus leaves). Two breakages to upper acanthus leaves. Chip to right-hand upper edge of the base. Some pitting and gilding wear to the upper interior rim. Firing crack visible to the interior of the vase.

An 18th century longcase clock, Samual Roberts, Llanfair Caereinion The hood with cavetto cornice and turned full columns flanking the door, the trunk with shaped door above a plain base box, a gummed paper label inscribed in ink 'John Lloyd the maker No.59 - 1781', the brass dial signed 'Sam. Roberts Llanfair', Roman numerals to the chapter ring within moulded figural spandrels, the 30-hour movement striking on a bell, with pendulum and weight. Footnote:Samuel Roberts is a well documented clock maker of Llanfair Caereinion in the Montgomeryshire region, now Powys, active between 1750 and the 1780s. Records indicate that he crafted some six hundred pieces, roughly twenty per year, earning him an average of £35 per year. To serve the local community, Roberts established a 'clock club' with customers paying by installments and entering a lottery for each clock as it was completed. Some of the cases were made by Roberts' neighbour, the joiner John Lloyd who, unusually for the period, attached paper labels. The present lot is thus labelled.Two further Samuel Roberts clocks were sold in these rooms: 1 September 2021, lot 368 which sold for £2,600 (+fees); and 12 December 2018, lot 527 which sold for £2,800 (+fees). Condition:Hood: Cornice re-attached. Glass good. General signs of age and use. Case: Small losses to moulding at top of base box. Base box sides re-attached. Scuffing to plinth facia. Dial: Good. Movement: Intact. Running and striking. Ancillaries: Pendulum and weight.
A French gilt bronze and marble table centrepiece late 19th / early 20th century, the pierced foliate shell shaped dish mounted with two caryatid figures, one a semi-clad female figure holding a flaming torch aloft, the other a winged cherub, on a bun form stem with scroll mounts to a floral base, on a turned rouge marble and ormolu plinth, 19in. (48.25cm.) high. *Good condition overall. Light wear to gilding on marble.
A mid 18th century walnut chest comprising two short over three graduated long drawers, raised on a plinth base incorporating one long drawer, on bracket feet, having lion and unicorn lock plate and ornate escutcheon plates and split pin drop handles, 41 x 23in. (104.1 x 58.4cm.), 41¾in. (131.4cm.) high. *Some losses to veneer and moulding.
A mahogany cased barograph by Sewills of Liverpool with bevelled glass case, the plinth base with full width drawer containing the instruction leaflet and spare papers, 14¼in. (36cm.) long, top glass missing. *The glazing from the top of the case is missing, and there is a small chip to the inside edge at the bottom of the removable glazed section of the case. Otherwise in good condition.
A painted papier-mache, faux-granite figure of Nandi, the Hindu sacred cow probably 20th century, the recumbent cow in elaborate ceremonial dress, with decorative saddlecloth, strings of bells and head ornament, on a stepped plinth with floral and lappet borders, 13in. (33cm.) high. *Small chip to one upper corner of plinth and another larger to one lower corner. Otherwise good.
A reproduction mahogany and marble breakfront side cabinet, the green marble top over two cupboard doors opening to two shelves, flanked by two cupboard doors with brass lattice fronts opening to two shelves, raised on plinth base, 65½ x 13½in. (166.3 x 34.2cm.), 35¼in. (89.5cm.) high. *Right side door escutcheon is loose but lock works, missing some shelf brackets.
A Victorian carved oak open bookcase the raised back with floral and Green Man carving over a rectangular top with chip carved shelving flanking a small cupboard door to storage, flanked by lions head and foliate carved pilasters, raised on a plinth base, 42 x 12½in. (106.6 x 31.7cm.), 52in. (132cm.) high. *Fading and wear to shelves plus cup rings, no key.
A French red lacquered slate mantel clock early 20th century, the twin train movement signed 'O. Berger A Paris 101', with half hour outside countwheel strike on a bell, gilt, foliate chased dial, the slate case with gilt and red lacquered decoration, on a plinth base with baluster moulded angles, 8in. (20.25cm.) high. *Winds and runs. Some chips and wear to the lacquer to the edges and raised detail. Left side panel on the plinth base is a later wooden replacement and there is a small wooden repair piece to the back right corner of the top.
A late 19th century black slate drum clock the white Roman enamel dial with blued steel hands and brass bezel, above scrolling supports with red marble inlay, standing on a raised marble plinth with a central red marble inlay and foliate carving, the twin train movement with outside countwheel strike on a bell, 11¾ x 5in. (30 x 12.7cm.), 8 5/8in. (21.9cm.) high. *Strikes correctly on the hour and half hour. The pendulum spring is broken, so running cannot be tested. Case has several chips to the edges of the plinth and some pale damp spotting around the plinth. Wear to gilt decoration.
An English, late 19th century, elaborately carved oak musical three train long case clock the brass arched dial with a silvered chapter ring and Arabic numerals enclosing a subsidiary second dial below twelve, a strike dial in the arch, ‘Westminster Chime/Silent’ within pierced scrolling spandrels, the case having a carved hood and surmounted by a scallop shell and floral carving, the glazed trunk door flanked by carved fruit, nut and floral design and glazed sides, all raised on a plinth with a carved central panel of ribbons and flowers, 26 x 17¼ x 100in. high.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany triple wardrobe the flared cornice over inlaid swag and patera design, with two inlaid panel doors and central full length mirrored door opening to hanging space and a long drawer on the left and three slide trays and two drawers to the right, raised on a plinth base, 77¾ x 23½in. (197.4 x 59.6cm.), 82¼in. (208.9cm.) high.
