A late 19th/early 20th century mahogany sideboard, with rear upstand being panelled and with centre female mask carving, the base fitted with four glazed doors flanked by pillars and enclosing adjustable shelves and with multiple breakfront base. Width 227 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The sideboard is generally in very good condition. The colour is good. There are minor scuffs to the extremities as one might expect but no significant issues. The top is generally very clean and has no cracks. There are two small scuffs on the rear front edge of the top above the dentil cornice above the head of the female figure. The doors are not warped and all shut as they should. We have the keys. The plinth base is in good order with no issues.
A George III oak longcase clock, with swans neck pediment above the arched painted dial with eight day striking movement, flanked by fluted columns and with long trunk door and raised on bracket feet. Height 210 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have a pendulum but no weights. The dial is in need of restoration. There are no significant paint losses however the dial is dirty and allover crazed and much of the writing and numerals are rubbed. The minute hand is half missing. The movement is filthy but appears to be complete. The seatboard is original and we do not think that the piece is a marriage. The case itself is extremely dry and has a matt finish as if all the original polish has perished. It may simply have been stripped. The hood is in generally good condition with no major issues other than minor veneer losses, scratches and scuffs. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the case are in good condition as is the base generally. There is a stress crack down the centre of the base itself between the joins. The plinth is likely to be a later replacement and the clock will probably have had bracket feet. The backboards are original.
An early 19th century mahogany wardrobe, with moulded dentil cornice above a single door with panels and applied mouldings opening to hanging space and a drawer and all raised on bracket feet. Width 53 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The wardrobe is in generally reasonable condition. The cornice is in good order with only minor surface scuffs and blemishes. The side panels are both in good condition. The door is in generally good order and locks as it should. There are two small pieces of moulding missing, one on the middle right hand panel (bottom) and one on the top of the rear bottom left hand panel. The door locks as it should. The middle of the three hinges is slightly loose. The rear left hand bracket foot is detached but we have the pieces. The plinth is a little scuffed as one would expect. The interior is in generally good order with no issues.
A late Regency/William IV mahogany waterfall bookcase, with six open shelves and shallow drawer to base and raised on short bun feet. Width 117 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The bookcase is in generally very good condition. The pediment is in generally very good condition. There are two small losses to edge mouldings on the right hand top return. The sides of the bookcase are in very good condition with no splits. The plinth is in good order as are the feet. There is no evidence of any woodworm. The bookcase is structurally very sound and of good colour. There are some cracks in the softwood backboards as one would expect. We can see no evidence of any repairs or restoration.
A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers, the rectangular top with moulded edge above four long graduated drawers with wooden knob handles and moulded drawer fronts and raised on a plinth base. Width 116 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Height 98 cm, width 119 cm, depth 53.5 cm. Generally extremely good condition and of good colour. The top is flat and not split. The sides are in very good order, the back boards are original. All drawer fronts are in extremely good condition. The handles are original. The plinth base is very clean and basically unmarked.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany granddaughter clock, with arched hood and silvered brass dial bearing plaque "David Summerfield, Newcastle-on-Tyne", with two-train spring driven movement, inlaid trunk and raised on a plinth base. Height 135 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock movement is a little dirty and appears to be fully wound. The clock does tick for a few seconds when the balance wheel is rotated. In our opinion the movement could do with an overhaul as it is probably very dry. The movement does chime on the half hour and on the full when advanced by hand. The case is in generally good order with no significant losses. There are several old stress cracks to the veneers on the top of the hood which are in our opinion not significant. The remainder of the case is in very good order. The only area where there is any damage is to the left hand bottom corner of the plinth. The silvered brass dial is very dirty as you can probably see from our images. The strike/silent mechanism appears to operate.
A pair of simulated sandstone garden spread eagles, each raised on a square base. Height 64 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both eagles are in generally very good condition with no repairs, significant breaks or restoration. The left hand eagle has a small corner loss to the square plinth. There are also minor scuffs to the wings and knees but no real condition issues. The right hand eagle appears to the a small loss to the underside edge of the beak which is clearly a very old loss. There are no significant scuffs or damage to the eagle or base.
