A late 19th century slate mansion mantel clock with column and pilaster supports and figural frieze beneath a dome and finial, with etched base plinth, the cream enamel chapter ring set with Arabic numerals, Japy Freres movement, width 43cm, height 43cm, and a German Koma anniversary clock under a glass dome, height 30cm.
MAPLE & CO; a good Edwardian mahogany bookcase, the upper breakfront section with dentil moulded cornice above four glazed doors and central arched aperture, above a base with central well, twin cupboard doors flanked by drawers and cupboard doors, with fluted uprights and a plinth base, width approx 182cm, height 245cm.
A Victorian walnut nine drawer twin pedestal desk with invert breakfront top, inset leather writing surface, and plinth base, width 120cm. CONDITION REPORT: Back is veneered but very faded as sat in bay window. Lots of flecks missing to veneer. Split to back. The back of the top is also bleached and split. Veneers missing in parts of plinth and sides. Top lifts off. Depth: 67cm from inverted section.
Badge. Essex Regiment Officer’s helmet plate circa 1902-14. A good gilt metal example of universal crowned star pattern mounted with oak wreath and Garter, the centre with silver Sphinx on Egypt plinth atop the Castle and Key with ‘Montis Insignia Calpe’ scroll below, on a black velvet ground. Silver tri-part scroll ‘The Essex Regiment’ to the base of the wreath. Three loops to reverse. Some wear to gilt otherwise GC. (KK 258) Provenance. Ex Hugh King Collection, Bosleys September 2009, Lot 19. This is the actual piece photographed as No. 258 in “Head-dress Badges of the British Army”.
Badge. 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot Victorian OR’s glengarry badge circa 1874-81. A good die-stamped brass example. Strap inscribed ‘North Gloucestershire’ surmounted by Sphinx on ‘Egypt’ plinth; ‘28’’ to voided centre. Reverse with brass loops North and South. Old lacquer otherwise GC. (KK 466)
