An 18th Century green japanned chinoiserie decorated long case clock, decorated with figures and warrior on horseback with pagoda, prunus trees, birds and floral scrolls, the arched hood with glazed door flanked by turned pilasters over an arched trunk panelled door to a flat fronted and plinth base, the arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals within mask head and pierced scrolling spandrels to a matted centre with subsidiary seconds and date aperture to an arch with silvered boss inscribed "Samuel Smith, Richmond" to an eight day striking movement on a bell, 225 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The case has been re-japanned in the late 19th / early 20th century. Overall with wear and scuffs, quite a lot of cracks and chips to decoration, some separating at joins to the carcass of the case and some repairs and inserted sections, various chips and losses, case does not stand quite vertical and leans slightly to one side, hood also with various chips and old repairs, etc. plus cracks to top of arch, decoration to case also with various chips and touch-up paint, etc., brass face with small hand and fitments missing, damage/section broken off to one corner (lower right), various tarnish, scratches, etc.

Veneers with splits, lifting and some losses. Base of plinth appears to be a replacement. Some old woodworm holes. Some old repairs.
