A Philips Challenge 13.5" terrestrial globe, circa 1970, raised upon a chromed meridian and a stained wooden plinth base, 32cm high CR: Several areas of loss/lifting to the equator line - see pictures for illustration. Many small to mid-sized splits to the lacquer (see pictures for illustration). The globe shows scratching, wear and light staining throughout, however much of the detail and the lettering remains crisp and clear. The hour circle is loose, moving around the pointer. The meridian ring is slightly wobbly in it's setting, some tightening required. The meridian ring shows heavy wear throughout (see pictures). The stand shows moderate scratching and wear commensurate with age and use, but no splitting and is stable on a level surface.
A pair of late 19th century bronze copies of the Townley Vases, each cast in relief with classical figures, raised upon stepped slate plinths with incised gilt foliate detail, 42cm high (one at fault)CR; One example appears to have a later replacement bolt on the base, which has become loose on the pin running through the vase - as a result, the vase is loose upon the plinth, and the body of the plinth is loose on the base. There appears to be traces of an adhesive residue around the plinth of the same example (see pictures). Both examples show several chips and nibbles to the marble plinths mostly concentrated on the corners and edges, with the at fault example having a large loss to the base (see pictures). There is some loss to the gilt highlights on both examples. The vases to both examples appear in good order, no large dents, major damage or repair. Both liners are present.
